My ANH DL-44 - with parts from Field Marshall, dmachinist, and Todd's Costumes

Hey everyone! I thought I'd share a few pics of my ANH DL-44. I bought Field Marshall's full kit and finished it myself. The only thing I added/switched is the heat sink, which is dmachinist's pewter replica (I wanted this thing to be all metal) The end result is heavy, huge, and incredibly fun to play with. :p Here goes!

Nice! Is that the latest bull barrel?

Thanks! :)

As far as I know, yes this is the latest version of both the bull barrel and the flash hider.

I’ve dragged the scope on a really rough concrete slab... It did the trick. ;)

Update: I ended up switching Field Marshall's scope with one from Todd's Costumes. While it's not functional per se, it's built like the real scope (internal & external) which makes it a no-brainer (for me :p) Looks like my DL-44 will end up as a mishmash of parts from various sellers (but I'm still really grateful because Field Marshall was the only one willing to ship his "accurized" Denix to Canada)

Long story short, here's the scope, weathered and installed on the blaster:

Outstanding job! Did you use super blue on the scope? Any advice on how to apply it? I never had luck with super blue on anything... prep the hell out of it

Followed almost every YouTube video, and still can’t knock it out of the park

When it’s wet it looks awesome, once it dries or I dry it with paper towel... yuck....

How did you go about weathering the crossbar and knobs on it? It looks really good
Thanks! I used Wite-Out correction tape (yeah I know) as a masking tool. Put it all over the bar and knobs, then "drew" the parts I wanted black with a flat screwdriver... Put a coat of flat black paint, let it cure, then I removed the Wite-Out with the same screwdriver. Boom, instant chips & scratches. ;)

Well, for Marshall's kit I had to blue the scope body, but I used Aluminum Black. In my experience, Aluminum Black works better on steel than on aluminum! I just spread it on with a towel dipped in it until I was satisfied with the color. I also polished the body beforehand, but nothing more. It worked great, IMHO!

Very nice :thumbsup Scratching up the Todd's scope took some stones. :)
I know! But it just looked wrong just pristine and shiny like that. I had to do something about it. ;)

Another (and probably the last) upgrade: I switched out the aluminum flash hider for a steel one. The weathered aluminum just didn't do it for me. And, the weight alone is cool enough to warrant the change. So here's the final version of my DL-44. :)

Another ‘last’ update. I ended up stripping the paint from the upper receiver (since it wasn’t painted on the screen-used one) Then I blued the bull barrel and revised the whole weathering. I left the parts that aren’t blued on a real Mauser bare to make it as close as the real thing as possible (for a Denix) I think I’m finally satisfied with it. Here’s a few pics.
