Halloween (2018) Michael Myers Costume Research Thread

Considering doing a Returns inspired Myers for Halloween. I usually stay away from Myers and lean towards leatherface since I’m on the large (read: fat) side, but it could be fun.

I have the ToT’s mask on order of course and I’ll be repainting and rehairing it when I can, but I got a start on a Returns “inspired” mask. Sort of a mix of the Returns, original, and RZ masks. About 3 hours in. Have to let the WED clay firm up before I can do the finer creases and texturing.

Finished up my Returns “inspired” mask. Sculpted, molded, cast, and finished, in three days time. Was a super fun quick project, I’ll definitely have to suit up this Halloween. Went less for the actual one (again.. ToTs, movie mold, $60.. ) and ended up going more for a KH/DW crossed with a Shat and then aged.

Paint job is just a “guess” I’ll definitely be tweaking it once I have better reference. Other than that, I’m pretty happy.

Need to pick up the accurate coveralls at some point (there were just Red Kaps I had around) but here are some worn shots. Just had to go for the eerie blue vibes of the original.

Love it! I love the paint job, too! Very RZ "rotted" looking with the yellow highlighting the rotting points.

Knife came in. It’s a Henckels 8” chef knife. I found this one for just under $30 shipped on eBay!

Have to find a way to get my lifesize holding this thing. Decided I’m sticking with my inaccurate Red Kaps and boots, so it won’t be a perfect replica, but once the ToTs mask is in and refinished it should look pretty damn good.

Sure is. Well... One of them, at least. The origin of the photo of the four knives is Blumhouse’s Instagram account, and here is a photo of the producer Ryan Turek holding one on set. It’s hard to see details but if you look at the photos on the first page, you can see it in Michael’s hands as well.

That's awesome! Thanks man. I clearly need to be following those accounts! I just grabbed one off ebay as well. I've never cast anything like, but it would be pretty awesome to make a retractable blade version!

Dunno if anyone's interested or not but I've recently found a lot of hair (when I haired my own mask) tucked away somewhere that I completely forgot about. So if anyone's interested in getting a mask haired or rehaired, I guess, PM me and we'll work something out.

Good info for the knife. This is the first I've seen on that. I was gonna lean on my Dexter 15" if i couldn't get an accurate rep of the new movie.
 
I know that this isn’t always a good way to do this, but the fact that Neca’s figure features navy blue is a very good indicator. Their stuff has been dead on for the last few years and they likely had good source material to base it on. Plus they clearly look navy blue in the gas station bathroom scene.
 
There is a video of a guy on youtube who did work for Universal and dressed as the 2018 version for an event. The coveralls provided from Universal was charcoal grey.
