1/12 scale Han Solo Landspeeder

Staggeringly great. I also have come to like this speeder despite...well! (That windshield is the classic Lego Space cockpit piece!) I think, thematically, it's designed to mirror the Falcon. The Blue is mirrored on Lando's plate livery, and the asymmetrical "Book" design likewise mirrors the offset symmetry of the Falcon's dish and cockpit.

Curious, though. Why did you build this from scratch, instead of just modding either the toy or the kit?

Thank you very much Brit.
I agree with you about what you tell me. The asymmetric design reflects the design spirit of the hawk.

On the other hand and answering your question, I live in Argentina where unfortunately scale models of this type are extremely expensive and it is not worth spending that money.
Also, speaking for me, it is much more fun and rewarding to make your own from scratch, ..jajajaj

Regards!

Wow man:cool Great work on that one! Sharp and crisp...that's how I like my models;) Eager to see the next update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. Just amazing on modeling and printing :)

I'm printing on a cr10 and already know the second it breaks I'm buying another 3d printer. I'm sold on the whole thing.

The best part is you have modeled something that could be now printed 1:1 if you wanted....

At something this scale what layer height do you use?

Agreed on all points! What printer did you use, and what was the cost for the plastic, out of curiosity?

Hi Brit...
I use a JGAURORA A3 3d printer.
The costs of the material may vary from country to country, but on average the cost per 1kg of material is around 20 or 25 dollars. For this particular model I use about 400 grams.

Hi space, yes, that is how you mention it, once modeled, technically you could print it in any size ....
man, you have the printer that I would like to have, I really think that cr 10 is one of the best. much better if you have the one that has the base extended to 40 x 40 or 50 x 50 cmt ......

in this scale I found that the better layer height for the body parts is 150 microns and for the smallest pieces and with more detail, 100 microns.

Hi Brit.
I still think that in my case, living here in Argentina, it's not worth the expense for the following:

The Hasbro vehicle, here in Argentina, is sold around $ 100 dollars plus the cost of shipping.
The cost per 1kg of 3d filament is around 20 dollars. For this model spend a little less than half of the filament coil, about 400 grams, which translate into 8 dollars approx. It is a very big difference in a country where the average salary is around 500 dollars.

Beyond the differences in terms of money, the Hasbro version still does not convince me at all, I consider it closer to a toy than to a model. That does not mean that any modeler of those who are here, can do a great job and shut my mouth out....hahaha.
Cheers Brit!.

Oh, the Hasbro is definitely a toy. But, I love (in that linked article) that it explains that (unlike the Revell kit), Hasbro somehow screwed up and made their toy based on the concept version of it, which makes it interesting from a curiosity point of view.

What's the size of this, and what does total cost come in at? (And, would you consider running out and shipping the parts if somebody paid you!)

Found these online from a Japanese interview with Narita, the guy who modelled the digital versions at ILM.

Yes, I was aware of what happened to Hasbro with the concept model.

The size is 13.5 inches long by 7.8 inches wide.
Regarding what you tell me about shipping the parts, I might be interested. I send you a pm and we see how we can reach an agreement.

Thanks Hemble, Joberg.
I'm glad you like the model

Because of lack of time, I don't publish the rest of the project, the reality is that it was already finished a while ago. I leave the photos of the progress.

After applying putty and sandpaper to the hull, I gave 2 coats of gray primer and then paint, two coats per color.
Blue is the original paint of the yamaha r1, haha, perfect fit.

Excellent work from building to painting and weathering!

I was not a fan when I originally saw the design, but I have come to like it a lot.

I gave the 1/72 Hot Wheels one an extreme makeover and repaint, but the size of yours really shows off the details

This may be my least favorite design in all of star wars - wait surpassed ONLY by those lame speeders that chased it... BUT your build is stunning I still don't dig the subject matter but your build is pretty great!
