My 1/72 Fine Molds Tie Interceptor with lit up interior and engines .

G'day
This is a short vid of my Fine Molds 1/72 Tie Interceptor . I put a 1.5mm red LED behind the pilots' seat and painted the raised detail with a Molotov 1mm Liquid Chrome paint pen . To represent the Twin Ion Engines I used a 5mm flickering red LED attached to two 0.75mm fibre optics all hidden in the extra base . I sprayed the lower base chrome and sealed it with Tamiya gloss coat . The original base is covered in Chrome Bare Metal foil with the placard painted chrome . I used the FM decals for the base . I mixed the colour of the Tie with Tamiya blue and gray till I thought it looked right . The tube for the wiring and fibre optics is a Kilometrico pen painted metallic black and coated with Tamiya gloss . This is the first time I have attempted to light up a kit and I think it went well . I went through 3 cockpits before I settled on the final look ( thank goodness I had spares ) . I originally had the red interior LED in front of the pilot but it just wouldn't fit ( I had to cut his feet off ) . I apologize for the low quality vid as it was recorded on my phone .

TUBS, this looks great! I tried to do the same with the old MPC ertl TIEs a few years ago minus the cockpit light. I have this weird obsession with needing to light ships but having the batts built in for flexibility of not using the stand. Because I did that it turned out that the pilot would not go in anymore so I ended up printing out a pic of the pilot in the seat on photo paper (not pictured here) and spraying it flat and placed in front of my batts.

Here was what I ended up with... Had to trade off the pilot completely (now he is a pic) because of my battery holder glued to the rear hatch panel.

Currently trying to light a Bandai kit, which much struggle haha. Had to drill holes in the back for the wires to fit out, but the solder connection to the LEDs was super week and ended up breaking...
