2011 was a GREAT year for movies!

I am always on the lookout for good movies I haven't seen. They don't have to be blockbusters or Oscar winners. Just something good that I may have missed. Right now, I am looking back at 2011.

Here are the movies I liked from 2011. If you can think of any movies from 2011 that you liked that aren't on this list, please post them and I'll give them a shot!

My top 3 films for 2011 (this has been my hardest list to pick so far, because I love so many movies from this year):
The Tree of Life (This may be one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. I don't know ANY movie that has struck me like this one did)
Limitless

Melancholia

Honorable mention to:
Drive
Hanna
Source Code
We Need to Talk About Kevin

Worth Watching Not necessarily advocating these... just saying, they might be worth your time):
13 Assassins
The Adjustment Bureau
Another Earth
Atlas Shrugged
Bag of Bones
The Bang Bang Club
Battle: Los Angeles
The Cabin in the Woods
Captain America: The First Avenger
Cowboys & Aliens
The Grey
Immortals
Insidious
The Lincoln Lawyer
Midnight Son
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Rango
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Sucker Punch
Super 8
These Amazing Shadows
The Thing
Thor (hard to recommend this one...)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (same here)
War Horse
X-Men: First Class

This is a first... movies I think are NOT worth watching:
The Skin I Live In
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Contagion
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Oh, man... Melancholia...
I'm so torn about that film.
On the one hand it's so boring and tedious, but on the other -
it's so hauntingly beautiful.

Crazy, Stupid, Love with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

On its surface this does NOT seem like my kind of movie. In fact, it seems like a movie I would hate. I am not a big Carell fan so I went in not expecting much... and was super surprised that I really liked this film! it was fun and quirky but rarely fell into just being silly. I also appreciated that there was absolutely NO crude humor which is a rarity. Thanks for the recommendation!

The hauntingly beautiful part is what I love. When I first watched it I was a little taken aback, but it is a movie that I just couldn't get out of my mind.

Moneyball
Midnight in Paris
Super
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn

Not a fan of sports movies but really enjoyed Moneyball.

Midnight in Paris... ehhhh... I hate Owen Wilson and he didn't do anything here for me. The premise was interesting and I loved Hemingway, but this movie felt like it was missing something.

Super is still on the list.

Tintin... just couldn't connect. Didn't make it past the 20 minute mark. :(
