ESB Graflex proper grip placement?

What is the proper grip placement for the ESB Graflex? Most blueprints show the grips starting at the clamp, which prevents the lower tube from coming off ever again. But the Ranch saber shows the grips starting at the very end of the tube, so it stops short of the clamp, allowing the lower tube to come off. Which is more accurate for the Bespin variation?

thanks for all your replies. It looks like some like to mount the grips flush with the bottom. Which is like Ranch saber. But in the R2 bump scene, you can see what appears the edge of the Graflex peeking out from behind the grips, making me think they butted grips up to clamp on that saber.
