Now I had a new mission order from my highness.
She asked me to do something on the side wall of this kitchen counter.
We both don't like this counter side for long before but I had been keeping postponed to renovate somehow till now.
OK, It's the time.

I've been thinking about the plan for few days. How can I make my Highness satisfied? Finally, I reached the very conclusion.
The cost is the key.:devil

I bought three 10 mm thick 3 feet x 6 feet plywood and a dozen of 25 mm x 45 mm x 6 feet long squared timber. Also a few cans of varnish paint. Total cost was about $50. Of course, the labor cost is not included.

My table saw run all the day.

I made almost 40 pieces of 1 foot x 1 foot square tiles.
It took whole day.

Yesterday.
Before I started to make this, my highness asked me how will it looks like when it's done.
At that moment I didn't say that it will look like the surface of Death Star. Instead I told her that it will be the work of homage to Frank Lloyd Wright. :p

She said that's great!:love

Let's do it!:devil
My Jedi apprentice Yuki was called for help.

Here's a movie!!

May I say that it looks like the surface of death star, can't I ?

Fortunately, my Highness was pretty much satisfied this and kindly allow me to prepare for the supper.

PS:
That evening, we found a very muddy spot in the corner of the back yard.
I thought it may caused by the recent long heavy rain. But still it was curious. At the middle of the night, I wake up and got a very bad feeling about that muddy spot.
Six o'clock this morning, I got out from my bed and changed my clothes and started digging the muddy spot (after I cooked her bento, of course).
2 feet underground, the joint of an old water pipe has been badly leaking. It seems this water leak has been started since last November.
Then we knew this was the main cause of the death of my wife's roses. The mud around the roots slowly ruined her beloved old roses.
She fell into a deep sorrow. I called up the 24 hours emergency plumbing service. After 2 hours of plumber's struggle,
I fell into a deep sorrow.
As I looked at the bill... ....$600. :facepalm:cry

This is the life.....
Our house is almost 50 years old. Maybe I should learn about the plumbing.:(

Just look forward to see my daughter Miki coming home to have a little celebration of their birthday.
They will be 27. Phew.....

At the Oyster Shack.

Thanks for looking and have a nice day, my friends.:D

Very nice little project. It turned out really good. Loving that death star look as well.
600 to fix a pipe huh, ouch. Never too fun.
But say happy birthday to them for me....

Looks great! The Frank Lloyd Wright stealth approach you took with your Highness was both wise and clever. I am always learning new "bad boy" tricks from your posts, keep them coming! :devil

Sorry to hear about the bad pipes, the even worse bill and the untimely demise of your wife's beloved roses. If you really do teach yourself plumbing, there will officially be nothing left you can't make or fix. That thought is both inspiring and depressing to someone like me who has trouble caulking a bathtub.

Very Happy Birthday wishes to your daughters.

Happy Birthday wishes!

Looks just right and much better than before.

To the Star Wars fans it sure evokes the Death Star, but not so much that it is too obvious. Now if you had painted it grey.....:lol

Too bad about the plumbing issues

Thanks for the kind words.
Don't worry Bones-san. Caulking troubles me all the time.
Now you inspired me, I just remember the spot in a bathroom need serious calking.:facepalm

I had almost try to paint it in gray actually!:lol

And I thank you very much for your kind words for my daughter's birthday.
I will send your regards to them for sure.

Hey Katsu - san ,

Nice work on the kitchen bench / counter makeover . Your attention to detail in whatever you seem to do is terrific !:p
It kinda reminds me a little of Star Wars and a little Art Deco-ish !

Sorry to hear about your Lady’s roses , maybe your girls will replace them for mothers day !?

My mother loves her vegetable garden but she really loves her rose bushes so I empathise . She asked me to prune them back for her unsupervised ONCE ! ... she was NOT happy !? . Now , whenever I’m pruning them back for her , she’s watching me like a hawk !:facepalm

Didn’t realise your daughters were twins ? Both turned 27 ! Hope they had a great birthday !

:cheersGed

Very cool! I might steal this idea when it comes time to renovate the kitchen.

Thank you very much for looking, Carnet-san!

Hi!
Thank you Ged-san.
Your situation is much better than mine. my Highness never allow me to step into her garden unless I got a official permission and her observation.

And Yes, my daughters are twin. I don't remember how I did it. :lol

That looks amazing! Great craftsmanship!

Thank you very much, Goodtime-san!

Very cool stand.

It would look cool with some colored lighting in it. Some LEDs or something at the bottom or top that would light up the side like fiber optics

kind of like the effect from the old Astrolite toy from Hasbro

(not mine, but it demonstrates the effect)

Thank you, Ged-san.

I'm just enjoy trying every day and that's all.

The material is acrylic plates I bought. That was originally a wasting tip of acrylic that shops are selling with a bargain price.
The 10 pounds of box of random sizes are sold in 20 bucks. Very useful. There is a special adhesive for acrylic material.
Using just like you are using a super glue. Fit the faces and glue with a injection needle. Just 10 seconds and that's it.
It's fantastic.

Nice TV stand. You should design houses, they would probably be pretty cool looking.

Thank you Michael-san!!

Thank you so much!

This is what I made today.

It's the glass hanger. That was easy and took only 4 hours.

It's a very small bar counter but we are having drinks every evening when we finished our daily work.
My daughter get behind the bar and mixes some cocktails.
We talk anything about we've had before supper. It's another good time.

Thanks for looking.

Love it , Katsu - san :cool!! ... Absolutely brilliant design . Is it held in place through friction against the pillar by the weight of the glass holding tray - side ?

I’d also like to compliment you and your Highness on a lovely looking home /entertainment area - very ‘ chic ‘ ! ;)
I’m especially admiring the wall finishings ( brick & tile work ) , the exposed concrete (?) portions on walls and ceiling , and that wicked wall clock :p!.

Thanks for sharing .

:cheersGed

p.s. Is that Cyclops’ permanent docking bay in photo #3 ?
p.p.s What’s your preferred poison at the end of a hard ( but satisfying ) days adventure ?

Good guess, Ged-san.
I planed as you said at the first place but I was afraid if it falls down by earth quake or something. You know here is the kind of land. So I fixed the frame with small screw from back side.

And thank you for the compliment for the interior.
The wall looks like exposed concrete was finished with diatomaceous earth.
It absorbs the humidity and suppress the ambient noise.

p.s. Is that Cyclops’ permanent docking bay in photo #3

Every model I finished to build, I like to put them on the place I can watch them occasionally.
This time, the model doesn't seem to spoil the dinner mood, so, it will be put there a little bit longer than usual.
My daughter #2 came back home and see this model in person.
She said it's better by far than she watched on the pics.
I was so happy to hear that.
The model will be placed in my bedroom shelf at last.

p.p.s What’s your preferred poison at the end of a hard ( but satisfying ) days adventure ?

:lol At 6 pm every day, we are gathering the bar corner.

My daughter declares, 'Bar's opened!'.
Me and my wife start with a glass of icy cold beer.
Then my daughter mixes for us a shot of martini or gimlet.
Then a few shot of bourbon or rye whiskey for me.
And the chitchat and laughter go on for a few hours until the supper.

My daughter Yuki says, bartender should be one of the most admiring job in the world.
She says, standing behind the counter and serve the drink is so much fun for her.

We can share the feeling at the end of the day just like every worker does in a cozy bar.
Maybe that's nothing significant but we all feel so good.:D

Martini eh ! ... Shaken or Stirred ?:lol
Thanks for your detailed response Katsu - san , it’s really appreciated .
I have to admit , I really envy the relationship you seem to have with your daughters . My kids seem to be busy with their own lives - full time work , and in their free time socialising with friends takes priority .
Don’t get me wrong . I’m glad and proud they’re doing well , they’re healthy and happy with life ... so I shouldn’t complain too much but , sometimes I wish they were little again and needed me more - know what I mean ?

Oh well , as smarter people than I am have said ... “ C’est la vie ! “

Ged-san,

Once in a while, my kids was busy with their social business.
I've just let them go wherever they wanted to go.
All I did was serve them a good meal every day and love my wife.
Then they came down to me while they still have their social business.
Maybe you can't believe but it's true.

But I can see your kids are going to be a reliable individual.
That's really good. You are a good father. you did it alright.
And they will understand someday, or they knew already that they got a great mom and dad.
In anyway, they will know about it when they are mother or father.

What a lovely home and all the little things you have added to it

As for drinks, I'll take a Jack and coke or rum and coke

Heeey, Jack and coke is my gaming drink.
In fact, Jack Daniels is the best whisky. Oh I love it!!:lol

Thank you Brakeh-san.

Here's my work today.

Gun Rack.
It took whole day.:wacko
