Hello everyone. currently I am working on an armor build for Solaire and I thought I would detail my progress here and share my resources. Feel free to use anything that is mine. Aright, let's get started.

First let's start with some reference images for this build.

REFERENCE IMAGES:

Here's a nice front and back view view where you can see him head to toe. However, I found that the in-game model did not provide enough detail ironically for reference. So, I turned to the official figure released of Solaire which also displays him with his shield.

These are nice high quality images which are extremely helpful if you are planing a Solaire build like me. So far these have been a Godsend.

Now for the smaller details like the sun emblem I will get to that in a later post.

I will be segmenting my posts a bit because I have been working on this build for a while so I have quite a lot of progress to show. So stick around for fun armor building fun!

Tunic and Sun Emblem

As promised! Here are some progress pictures of the build. First I will start with the tunic.

29313104_1763455480371145_1560704494185282177_n.jpg Here we have the sun emblem drawn out on linen, painted with basic acrylic paint you can find at any craft store.

29249444_1763455523704474_3797576547234947769_n.jpg I went in with the red after finishing with the yellow. (Be careful not to make a mess like me.)

29244439_1763460290370664_5586111457393471352_n.jpg Once everything is dry, you can detail it. And fix any problems that you might of had. Also, I rubbed a little white paint into the linen as you can see here. I mean, Solaire's tunic is supposed to be rough so I think it sort of adds to the overall appeal. Anyway, next was the most nerve wracking part...the face.

So right here is a nice reference image of the entire emblem:

29261959_1763455537037806_1945367707917383214_n.jpg As you can see, the lines are crisp and smooth and sweeping. For that I used a detail brush and kept the paint on the very tip. I tried to make sure the paint was constantly drippy at the very tip and very sharp to get that dramatic effect.

Here is the result:

So in short here is the tunic! nice and crisp! I finished off the bottom with another piece of linen, sewn to the bottom for that extra layer that Solaire has on his tunic, I'll show it in another post. For now, I'll end it here.

Praise the sun!

Sword and Shield

Sword and Shield

Materials: Plywood, acrylic paint, wooden dowels, wood-glue

-----

So I don't have as many progress pictures of the sword and shield, but I do have a few pictures of the finished product.

The Sword

The Shield

At the moment the sword and shield still need some work, i.e. paint and some final fixings. At the moment I have a STL file for the sword on standby if the wooden one is no longer my go to.

You can find the STL file here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2441256
