Just an Old Fashioned 70's Spaceship

Here is a rather simple scratch build as far as the design is concerned. The main body is based on the dimensions of the cage on the Eagle and I am using the CM from the MPC 22 inch kit with 2 of the large back thrusters and 4 of the smaller lift off thrusters that will go on the bottom. The main body is a scratch build with detailing from various kits and HO scale train accessory kits. The large tubes that are part of the engines on the sides are from a Plastistruct kit for propane tanks cut down a bit. The Eagle kit was from a poor attempt that I wasn't happy with so I wanted to use it in some way and I think this build suits it fine.

Here's a bit of the overall design.

A recessed area for plenty of delicious greeblies.

Refashioning some couplings for the CM

I constructed an area on the top with a similar shape as the spine but its meant more to "house," components of the ship.

Starting to come together more.

The large engine bells/thrusters will be attached to the back of the "propane tanks." The clear piece will be painted with a clear red and set inside and lighted from behind, as will the CM and the "propane tanks" will have flashing Port and Starboard lights.

So far its just been a fun build and its simple in the fact I am not trying to recreate something else, just plain fun.

Thanks for looking.

looks good and unique - have you a pencil sketch rough of what you intend this to look like completed - can you share this?

No pretty much what you see is it. I was inspired by a ship the "Glue Brothers," had made called the Falcon. Its has the CM from an Eagle 1/72 scale and some other rocket type kit I am unaware of.

Thanks guys!

All Done. I was a bit heavy with the weathering but I wanted it to look older and well used. I still have to do the pilots or maybe just some seats still deciding. Overall I am happy with it. It was just fun not having to worry about it looking like preexisting ship, just do what ya like, fun. Hope you guys finding it interesting. Take Care.

Your model's great man! :thumbsup I'm taking you off the list.

Thanks guys sometimes it does seem that way that I am on some list. When ya see almost a 100 views since I posted the finished model and no one had anything to say, well there's not much fun in coming to a model site to share. Plus some sites seem to be rather tight knit. I remember posting my 22 inch Eagle model over at Eagle Transporter and I was told to go to Face-book which I don't do and yet there were other threads that had plenty of activity so sometimes I just don't get it. Just over ten years ago when I joined Starship Modeler there were a few guys bashing Christians in and through various other topics. I could care less what they believe or anyone on the forums believe and I respect all because I figure we are all modelers. But I did get tired of their insults to others so I had no problem calling them on it and I think its followed me every since or so I think, could be wrong.

Thanks again though :)
