Just starting out and need direction

I am gathering everything to do a classic Planet of the Apes look soon. Oddly enough the makeup is not my real concern but coming in so many years after the buzz died down I am having trouble finding patterns or even designs of any kind for costumes. I am looking for a rough guideline to make Zira's outfit or perhaps even a guideline for doing an Orangutan but since the new films came out as CGI and those apes wore nothing...there are no costumes. Hoping someone here could give me links that actually work. I have hands , feet and prosthetics and hair for the chimp but I am currently naked and clueless what would work for my first Cosplay.

Please help a newbie out.

Have you considered finding close dress and smock pattern that can be modified and then adding the leather work?
