Altered Carbon Props

Currently working on making a stack. Do you think that stair stepping around the edge is intentional or a result of being 3D printed and they just decided to leave it?

I'd imagine it was intentional, I've modeled up a quick stack on thingiverse but with the screenshots I initially had, it looked like ridging in a damascus steel like pattern. Also seems all stacks are not quite the same.

This one was my favorite in the series, but really hard to get a clear shot of it:

I'm waiting on better images and accurate dimensions to come out but in the mean time, made this stl file for the stack, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2783656 can atleast use it to see what works best for lighting and practice painting on it to get the right look. Designed with intent to use transparent ABS and vapour smooth after, hence the hard edges for the damascul like pattern, smoothing should get a good result.

Just ordered a steel and detailed frosted version of your pieces, can't wait to see what they look like! I plan on weathering the grey steel version down and rubbing some metallic blue acrylic to fill the details on it, and then dremeling out the plastic version to work up a "shimmering" effect PCB, see how that version looks.

thats pretty awesome, when you get them in, please do share pics or share a make on thingiverse, would love to see them made. Would you mind telling where you ordered the steel versions from?

Will do on the pics. On shapeways you can order a variety of materials, since this piece is so small the grey steel version (which looks like the finished piece) cost 45 bucks, not too bad.

I read the same article in Variety but you're right, it just had concept art from the back.

Did anyone else get a Highlander reference in the final?
When Tak is getting ready to battle his sister in a sword fight, he grabs what looks to be the the Highlander Ramirez katana. Two people who are hundreds of years old. I dont know maybe it was just me.

I think they actually used
the Marto Dragon katana that was never seen on-screen but has somehow been labeled as the sword of Duncan Macleod...

I wish we could get a better pic of the Praetoian guards rifles. It looks like its AK47 based

I'll give a bigger dump here when I finish my twitch stream tonight. Working on Takeshi's gun tonight. Designing it in Fusion 360. Should be fun. Thanks to you guys I have some additional reference as well! Heres the cream of the crop and I'll go through and get anything I missed later and post that.

Yea. It's AK based. I managed to freeze it perfect on my tv the other night. The one you see Toc with is an AK style rifle, with a different stock, a fore grip that extends out over the barrel, and Its counterpart above that covers the glass tube and also runs all along the top of the dust cover.

here are just pics I snapped off my TV.

So, clearly some sort of AK with what appears to be a branded folding stock, a front end that covers the barrel and gas tube, and continues all along the top of the dust cover.

Based on the angle of the magazine, and gut instinct, I think it's built around an AK-74, which uses smaller caliber bullets than an AK47, that are more in line with .223/5.56 rounds from an M4 (because they're smaller bullets, the magazine doesn't/can't have as sever a bend in it, which is caused by 7.62 Ak rounds being hella fat at the back end); also, sweeping the room with the safety on. CTAC gotta confirm a target before they go hot ;).

[Edit] whatever stock that is, it appears to be "paratrooper" or some other type meant to be fired while folded closed. so folds to the right side of the rifle. the reason the stock looks bent is because it leaves room for the grip on the bolt to cycle, and for spent rounds to kick out, while folded. if it folded flat, you couldn't shoot the gun with it folded down.

just to show the partially exposed barrel inside the bottom shroud. that light in the sight is actually from the helmet
I also want to say the narrower front on the magazine is common for AK74 mags, instead of AK47 mags.

this horrible blurry pic is just to show that for some reason, in this ONE view, the sight appears to be lit up red. this is also a scene where the actor is not wearing a helmet, so it shouldn't be reflected light from his lid.

and a big honking rail along the top

Man, you guys are on it.

All the props look great. They all felt true to the world. Of the non gun props, I liked the medical laser in the Raven and the weird case transporter thing where the gang banger transfers into the old Kovacs sleeve.

Anyone have any shots of the big dude with the robotics on him?

So this came out rather nice. I need to make a few more mods and then I can test print it. Might start a new thread for it. Had some trouble with the grip and rear of the gun. Just not much reference that I could find for it so far. If anyone sees any glaring issues then let me know. Bit of it where tricky but I think I'm close. Hopefully it prints well.

All in all not bad for a 5ish hour twitch stream.

The backpack seems to be custom printed, and i'm not sure if its based on the kiddie backpack previously linked: It has two zippers. So either its the kiddie backpack but heavily modified, or its based on something else entirely.

had anyone ever seen the "hello Unicorn" thing outside of the series? Because there aren't many google results for that...

I’m thinking the “Hello Unicorn” is a parody of “Hello Kitty” since they didn’t have the rights
