I am fortunate to say that for this project, Jon Watson is graciously allowing us the opportunity to use his models for the production of this armor, so all credit goes to him for providing his work. We are handling the finishing, molding and casting for this project. I'm happy to say I've got the help of a local friend, who helped me get my Open Seasons Montross and the girlfriend's Jango Fett squared away for Celebration Orlando. He's got a lot of costume building experience as well, so between me and him, our motivation to have this particular costume in our "arsenal", it's going to get done this year.

Some things to note about the planned production- Some components will be vacuum-formed ABS, while others will be roto-cast resin, simply due to the nature of the details:

Planned vac-formed components:
-Shoulder bells
-Chest/back-plate
-Cod piece
-Knee-cup and Shin plate
-Boot spats
-Belt "buckle"

Resin-cast pieces
-Forearms + Wrist boxes
-Hand-plates
-Lower-shin bar
-All small greeblies; wrist buckles, forearm buttons, boot buckles and shin-loops

While ideally, we'd love to have everything in ABS plastic, achieving the level of accuracy and sharp details that are typically negated by vac-forming, this is the compromise on doing so.

Here's just a few recent pics of our progress. Nothing exciting, but just a lot of sanding, priming and more sanding. Working with 3D prints is tediously monotonous. Note, the pieces here have since been worked on, so the dust/matter you see fell on after the pieces were already dried from the primer coat.

Currently, the handplates and wrist boxes are ready for polishing and mold prep. The shoulder bell is right behind them. We're finishing the one boot buckle assembly to make a single mold, to produce several casts to use as masters for a gang/sheet mold. Likely will do the same for the wrist buckles as well. The forearms are proving to be the most time consuming for us, but we're to the point of cleaning the finer details out.

We're currently awaiting a new knee assembly print to be produced. Other components, like the chest, cod and back-plate, will be started after we get the above components squared away, molded and a few casts are produced.

Thanks

Some more update pics from this week. On the verge of having all of these ready for molding. The pieces in grey are ready to be polished and prepped for molding. Red pieces are still requiring some more work.

We should have the prints of the new knee/shin assembly this weekend, so we'll get started on those.
