Real Scooby Eaglemoss BTTF DeLorean

Unfortunatly this collection is NOT available over here in Austria, and other as with the DeAgo Falcon, I am also NOT allowed to do a subscription in Germany and have sent over.

So, being both, a BTTF fan since age of 10 and I instantly fell in love with the DeLorean when Doc Brown has the car rolling out of the van. I know the real life DMC is kind of a sitting duck, but it still my favourite car, unfortunatly too hard to get hands on one over here at reasonable prices.... one day you will be mine ;)

Anyway the next locigal stop was the EM UK shop where I started buying the first 10 issues and they arrived today. So my DeLorean garage is opened ;)

I will start building the coming days. There are no plans for any mods yet. Maybe add some color details where needed, little weathering maybe and time will tell, maybe that custom carpet most are using already.

The fenders look good. I am not familiar with this companies products. I imagine a fair amount of plastic, but are the fenders metal?

The fender is metal and features the brushed look, just hard to see on the photo. ;)

EDIT : updated with a little parts infos ;)

Since I finished #10, I had the feeling that there is something wrong but couldn´t tell what exactly

Suddenly today during lunch break it hit me like Thors Hammer. The frame of a DMC-12 is actualy light grey to nearly white
wink.png

So when I went home after work, I stopped by the local Hobbystore for a can of light grey metal primer.
At home I un-build everything again and colored the frame. While I waited, and I am sure Doc Brown didn´t build the timemachine into a factorynew DMC, I started to weather up the front suspensions

20180129_213836.jpg20180129_213929.jpg

EDIT: thought a parts count would be interresting :)

At this stage I am up to 181 parts yet, including every used screw. NOT counting extra screw.

Second order from Eaglemoss UK arrived today. #11 -19

20180208_173414.jpg

With a quick look through the parts, the chasis should be finished ...for now. Back Suspensions and Wheels.
First parts of the engine, and I think I noticed an extra tool too. I can never have enough tweezers ;)
Will start building on weekend, as there are still a few more frame-parts I need to recolor from black to light grey.

As I am waiting for my next delivery, wich should arrive by end of this week, I got this one today. And shame over me, when I opened my postbox today, it took me a few seconds to realize what this small package with hand written "To not open until 1985" was.
smile.png
razz.png

It still a few issues away, but I already ordered some custom stickers, from already community-wellknown Mr. Mike Lane
smile.png
and he does an AWESOME job on them.

I got his Decal Set I, updated Dashboard and his Carpet Sets.

C011.jpgC027.jpgC0310.jpg

Decal Set I comes with:
Time Circuit Display Side Covers - choose either plain grey or stainless brushed look. Both sides feature the row of bolts
Time Circuit Display Front - again either plain grey or stainless brushed look. The print-labels now feature the corrected red color instead of the blue ones delievery by EM
Middle Console Covers and details - the main reason why I got this set because the EM supplied sticker for the switch box just says "1-2-3-4-5-6"
updated Plate stickers - updated to the right desgin as the EM supplied ones are all wrong.

The Dashboard Set comes with:
Updated Dashboard Display - EM supplied is missing a few details, the DMC logo is upside down, saying DWC. Also the light leak issue should be fixed with this one
Display Glass Cover - EM is missing this at all, so its a nice addition by Mike

The Carpet Sets cover the footwells and center console ( issues #38-41 ) and the bulkhead behind the seats and door sills ( issue #52-55 )

C044.jpgC051.jpg

Mike offers some more custom sticker sets, like Barcode Plate complete with conversion to magnetic revmoveable plate to switch between "Outatime" and Barcode or a Fr. Fusion Cover Set to hide the big screw holes.
Although these look nice too, I quitted on them as I will display the finished model in 1985 first appearance mode, eventually 1955 "Hook" mode if EM supplies the Hook and parts to mount it.
I already wonder what else he might comes up with, might consider doing the heaven too.
If you are building this and also want to **** up the interrior a little, best way to get in contact with Mike would be email : deloreanmods@gmail.com or you dig him up on Facebook : Mike Lane ( cartoony avatar )

Can´t await to get to the point where to add these

Hallo again, as expected above, order #3 arrived :)

This time with french magazines, as most of this bulk are currently Out-Of-Stock at the Eaglemoss UK store.

#22 / 130

all parts - plastic

Very important info to anyone who also just stated the build on this model.
In this issue, we are introduced to a new kind of screws, labeld "MM".
Be very, very, VERY extra carefull with these, as they are pretty fragile, and break if too much pressure is used to drive them into their holes. Almost as if those screws were made of glass.
Also it help to put a drop of glue on the pegs where the hoses go, otherwise you get frustrated in later stages when they constantly keep coming off :p

#25 / 130

mounting support side parts - metal
mounting support front, exhaust pipes - plastic

025113.jpg025a.jpg

#26 / 130

all parts - plastic
sleeves - rubber

026106.jpg026a.jpg026b1.jpg

Thats it with the engine so far. I was a little irritaded by the end pipes of the exhaust pointing down. But after a short research it made sense. On the real-life DMC, they are pointing backwards as you would expect, on Doc´s timemachine, they go downwards, because the lightstripes, that come down at the back, are mounted to some boxes on the underside at the place where they would conflict with the exhaust end. So, everythings fine, no modding needed here ;)

There are still a few steps left to do for this issue, but I want to apply some weathering to the engine before I install it into the chasis.
Let see what the weekend brings

Enjoying the updates Scooby , and the builds really progressing at a good pace .

Can’t believe you’re up to 663 parts already , and you’re not even a 1/3 of the way through ! :facepalm
Are you counting the aftermarket parts and screws as well ? ... Now you’ve got me wondering how many parts made up the Deago MF !?:lol

:cheersGed

thank you ged :)

Pace will slow down when I am up-to-date with the UK release ;)
As for my partscount, I do count every single used screw, no extra screws. After market parts will get their own counter ;)

I did a count on the DeAgo Falcon somewhere else, and I came up to about roughly 2900 parts, counting every used screw, frameconnectors ... build as delivered with no mods

Hello again :)

Got another "smaller" shipment yesterday and I just finished the build.

#40 / 130

everything plastic
wire with a contact switch for the brake lights

build with the floor from #39 I also added my first custom parts. 4 parts of interior carpets :)

deco-wire

Added a few custom stickers. Side of the time-box to get the row of bolts. Front masks of the time-box with correct colored labels

# 43 / 130

everything plastic
wires with switches

Added some more custom stickers. Both sides of the switchbox and a tiny "caution, High Voltage" label

# 44 / 130

everything plastic

20180417_230442.jpg20180417_230830.jpg

# 45 / 130

everything plastic
wires with LEDs

added a custom dashboard display including front glass cover. I forgot to take a comparsion photo, but the orignal one supplied by EM, was kind of "simplified", missing a few details and the DMC logo is printed upside-down. Also no glass front EM.
The custom one has the correct DMC logo, a few more minor and sharper details and also is lasercut on the backside. The one supplied by EM has no cover on the back so light leak due bad printing is possible, as I already saw in other builds.

20180417_231219.jpg20180417_233030.jpg

Don´t know if it is meant that way, but all interrior parts wich would be covered in leather on a reallife DeLorean, ( dashboard, mid-console... ) are NOT casted in grey plastic. All parts so far, are colored black plastic. Them being colored grey, takes out the shine of the plastic and also adds a almost rubberish/leatherlike feel to them.

Parts count so far : 759
custom parts : 14

# 47 / 130

steering rod and wheel - metal
everything else - plastic

04748.jpg047a.jpg

# 48 / 130

deco wires

The delivered ties : They are meant to bundle up the wires at different spots. Altough they are pretty small one, scale up by factor 8, they would be huge in real life, and they just look out of place. So I picked up a ,25 black flowerwire from the local plant-store and that looks WAAAAAY better now ;)

04846.jpg048a.jpg

# 49 / 130

deco wires
seatbelts - cloth with already attached plastic parts

04945.jpg049a.jpg

This "wiring"-step is pretty fiddly. Although all of the wires are leaded and the kind of keep the shape, I might add a drop of glue here and there as some curves are still to much for them and they are pretty loose

# 50 / 130

seat core - metal
twisters, back and bottom - plastic
covers - rubber
5mm foam padding
