Scratch-Built Lightsaber

Awhile back I scratch-built this lightsaber hilt, borrowing heavily from Obi Wan and Luke’s lightsaber design with a few differences. I am currently displaying it with a rough handmade stand that I plan on replacing soon. The paint chipping effect was created by painting the hilt with an acrylic black paint and taking a tooth pick and scratching the paint away while it was still relatively tacky. The battle da,age on the actual hilt was accomplished by heating the plastic and using a chizzled rock to press into the plastic to create a dented appearance. Rust and discoloration was made by Tamiya Weathering Master kits.

Indeed ... great weathering :)

Thank you for the kind words, I spent more time on the weathering than I did making the hilt. Many many hours were put into it, unfortunately the camera washes out most of the detail inside the hilt, and looks rather flat on camera.
