Why your Snoke theory was irrelevant for this film.

Yeah I saw some people on Twitter saying it was a Reddit/4Chan attack but didn’t want to debate that here. What will be far more telling then the Cinescore rating or RT will be the box office legs over the next few weeks. That will be the final arbiter.

Apparently the escape pod bay shares the same physical space as the rear landing gear bay. Nailed it. :facepalm

That and his beard was missing gray hair.

I have to watch the scene closely again, but I read that another hint was that he didn't leave footprints or otherwise stir up the salt as he walked onto the battlefield. And we really didn't see any actual dust or debris on his shoulder that he "brushed off", did we?

Count me in as one who thinks the movie is a hot mess. I walked out feeling it was a complete waste of time and money. This is the first Star Wars movie I've seen (I'm 51) where I left regretting I paid money to see it. Was planning to take my wife to a second viewing sometime this weekend, but I've completely lost interest. I had my problems with TFA, but I was willing to see where the story would take us. I was actually excited to see if TLJ would justify some of the setup from TFA. Rey's parents? Who is Snoke? How did Anakin's saber re-appear? Why did Luke seek out the first Jedi temple? I feel like the film either didn't answer those questions or answered them in the worst ways possible. That combined with Superman Leia, the casino planet non-subplot, the ridiculous 5 mph in space "chase", the weird mutiny subplot, the fan service Yoda cameo... To me, TFA and TLJ are just really expensive fan fiction. I have zero confidence JJ can ride in to fix this mess in Ep IX. I seriously think JJ's solution for a rousing end to the trilogy would be to somehow bring Harrison Ford back. "Fans love Han, right??? We should bring Han back!" And then when someone asks, "Han, how did you survive?! We saw you die!" He's say, "That's a story for another time. Now quick, how are we going to destroy Starkiller Base II???" ******* it.

That 5 mph chase scene did seem weird, what was stopping the First Order from launching their TIE fighters? I need to rewatch. Attack fighters are much faster than the big Destroyers, so I'm scratching my head as to why all those FO ships we're doing nothing but chasing

When the Walkers stop as Luke walks out, the area in front is ALL red....no salt......then the Walkers open fire on Luke & there is red dust & debris thrown up in the air.....Luke steps out of the cloud of red dust,....Kylo comes down & the both ignite sabers

It cuts away to Poe, Finn & co figuring out an escape.....to Rey arriving as a fox climbs out of a gap in the boulders

Back to Luke & Kylo.....& the ground is white again,...it is lightly snowing salt though.....but the amount of red thrown up earlier is gone.....

I feel I need to re-watch this because I went in with expectations that weren't met and I'm not sure if it clouded my judgement. I also want to really focus on the problems I had with various parts that I know are problematic (Leia Poppins scene, horrible pacing, sub-plots that served no purpose, etc.)

IIRC there was something (dubious) about the star destroyers not being able to support the smaller fighters if the fighters got too far away from the big ships. Yeah, I don't get it either. Didn't seem to be a problem in the asteroid field in ESB (we even saw TIE bombers making leisurely bombing runs on individual asteroids). Instead, in TLJ, we got some weird "OJ and the White Bronco" slow speed chase, except the police cars were also lobbing spitballs at the Bronco the whole time in this one.

I was going to see it again Wednesday, but went yesterday instead. Much like TFA, it seemed better a little, or at least less objectionable, on the second viewing.

I vaguely recall hearing that, and that's just ridiculous if that's the inuniverse answer lol. Heck the TIE fighter in ANH that the Falcon was chasing was real far away from the DS too

As a non sequitur to the current conversation thread, I was surprised that I liked Rose tico as much as I did. I had no opinion of her character going into the film, but I felt she provided a dose of charm/charisma that has been missing in these new films. The sister sub plot also provided some substance to her role, and elicited empathy, at least from me. It was also a wise decision to give Poe dameron a more prominent role. To some degree Benecio del Toro's stuttering DJ also provided some welcome charisma.

Btw, I got a kick seeing Leia wield her blaster from the beginning of ANH (and also Luke's from the medal ceremony).

I would say that basically no fan theory was relevant for TLJ. It's as though Rian went out of his way to avoid any fan theories.

Well, the Falcon *has* always been bigger on the inside... :)

I could be wrong but I was thinking Rey's particular escape pod shot out between the mandibles which IIRC is the torpedo tube?

Sorta makes sense (in my mind). LOL.

I like we are seeing more internally of the Falcon. More contradictions and mysteries!

Regarding Hux calling back the Ties - As the cruiser pulls away, Hux tells Kylo to head back because they are at a distance where they can't support him. I thought about this and my opinion is that the smaller cruisers the Resistance uses are better at targeting fighters than the large FO ships are. We do see Kylo's wingmates get blown up and no Resistance fighters are outside the ship at the time (They all get blowd up!).

A combination of that and most likely tactics where a combo of fighters and big ship fire usually decimate ships is there standard procedures they probably were used to.

I saw it Thursday night, and I saw it again Sunday evening. I have discussed the film extensively with several people over the course of the weekend, and this article accurately sums up most of my thoughts and feelings about the film (the author makes a political analogy that is a bit of a stretch for me). It has been circulating the web, and I see that it has been posted up-thread a couple times, so if you haven't read it I recommend doing so whether you liked the film or not. It's worthwhile, and may offer an unseen perspective for you.

Slashfilm: The Last Jedi Doesn't Care What You Think About Star Wars

So did Finn have to walk past Luke on his way to dragging Rose back into the base? We see Luke walk out... Then Finn comes in. Youd think thered be a moment there of Finn watching Luke go by that could have been powerful.

Also I was thinking more about how its reasonably out of character for Luke to even have an INSTANT of thought about killing Ben as a student. But remember this... Luke is not the perfect Jedi, he is not entirely pure. In ROTJ he nearly lost it THREE TIMES. He gave to impulse to grab his saber and fight Vader. He gave into rage when Vader mentioned his sister. AND he nearly took the killing blow against Vader on the railing.

To say that an instant of dark thought is beyond out perfect "Legends" Luke Skywalker is to forget everything that he's gone through to that point.

I wasn't going to see it until next weekend, but it just got too hard to avoid spoilers (Luke and Snoke were already spoiled for me, not here--elsewhere) so I decided to grab a 9am showing Saturday morning. I really enjoyed it, that's all I'm going to say. Not going to get involved in the debate.
