Need help with geometry, please. Spoonflower fabric. Suitcase lining.

Using Adobe Illustrator I am trying to replicate a popular suit case liner fabric and have it printed on spoon flower. Spoonflower uses 15" tall x 21" wide art board repeated horizontally and vertically to print your artwork on fabric.

Apparently It's been too long since Algebra and Geometry in High school. I want to put diagonal lines that will line up on the X and Y axis when these panels are repeated, which would be easy if the panel were square.

Would anyone be willing to show/tell me a good way to do this with an 18" x 21" rectangle? Is it even possible? (I feel so under educated.)

The diagonal lines are not a perfect 45° but are close.
