With much encouragement from the wonderful gang over on the Ape Suit Cinema FB page, I've started my Crash Corrigan N'Bonga suit build.
I started out using medium Monster Clay and though it's a great clay, I found it hard to work with. I know it takes time but I had WED Clay on hand and started over with that. I must say WED is great stuff. Easy to blend and manipulate. I doubt I'll ever use anything else.
40 sq ft of NFT is here and I've got my muscle suit. Seamstress has been hired. Just have to get the mask molded. I'm following Steve Neill's great Moonwatcher build video to the letter. He really clarified the process and took the mystery out it (thanks Steve!!).
Here are the first round of progress pics. This is a very ambitious project and I'm taking it slow so don't expect timely updates but I'll do my best for those interested.
Bonga scared the crap out of me as a kid. Seriously. In fact, ALL the Hollywood Gorilla Men did their job scaring kids but Bonga was it for me. He was a true monster that seemed part human with the receding hairline, bushy eyebrows and perfect ape moves by Crash.
I'm using David Mosher's half head form, which is perfect! I highly recommend it.
