Artoo replica from a '76 Pyro X-Wing

This is very small, and was VERY easy to build (haha). My replica of a recently un-earthed Artoo top that was rescued from a Pyro X-Wing by an ILMer in 1976, painted on a casting pulled from a casting from the original ILM mold (you lost yet? lol). From the neck down is alllll made up - the full Artoos were only used as the top mount plugs on the Hero X-Wings as y'all know.
I hope to one day see a pic that shows which X-Wing this fella was paired to! He may even show up in a Y-Wing, but the chances are slim... about as slim as seeing this fella in situ. Anyway, fun little oddity.

Yes, real deal screen used pattern, recreated with less Sharpie this time, lol. God knows where it was featured... I mean, maybe cutting room floor? Who knows. But this is not even the farthest out there one. Here's the final silly display

Here's a Artoo in Red 2, with a comb over (much like this one) and a mustache, and some weird stripes running top to bottom on the dome...

Damn cool little droid there Jason!! Love the ref's and character they gave to R2 units. You sure captured the look of this particular one amazingly!

I redid the base inside the bell jar for the replica Artoo I painted. So this is a 3D printed plinth on the wooden base, and it’s all shot with gloss black. He sits higher up now which is nice. He sits in a shallow hollow that follows the contours of the body and legs.
