I was commissioned earlier this year to create a replica of the shotgun from Men In Black 3, so here's the process of how I've been making it. Enjoy!
After gathering as much reference material as possible (thank you to therpf interview at comic con) I was able to begin drawing the blueprints is inkscape (free illustrator), and printed them out in full scale.
Which I then transferred to 1/4"MDF as a base, then cutting specific parts in insulation foam that I carved into shape.

After carving, I protected the foam with epsilon epoxy resin, and began to shape the gun in bondo.
While I was working in shaping the gun I began 3d printing the details on the gun.
More bondo work:
To create the small hole details I cut sticky back craft foam into the small ovals which I then stuck to the gun in the places I marked beforehand, then filling the area with bondo and removing the foam before it fully cured.
