That looks really nice. Thanks for posting the pics.

I was watching last nights episode and something struck me about the big red light on the phaser, everyone around you can see it and know where to fire back it. I know it looks cool but it is kind of stupid.

An un-boxing review has been posted...

I am not too impressed with what I see in the video for the $500 price tag. It's still the best executed pistol phaser design since the Trek V Assault Phaser but the "wow factor" details in execution are missing from this offering.

The magazine doesn't "clip" into the pistol and must be screwed in. The "charge indicator" on the side of the clip does not appear to be made up of proper individually segmented LED's but instead appears to be a simple (and cheaply executed) one or two LED's set-up at the base of the magazine shining up through the charge indicator window in a fashion similar to the power level indicator on the old Playmates "First Contact" boomerang phaser. :(

In comparing this Phaser to the Wand Company TOS Phaser (at 1/5 the price tag, roughly) I am scratching my head with what I'm seeing. I

I am waiting to hear other reviews from these first wave of owners:

Based on the un-boxing video it appears that the trigger on the P2, not the P1, is a dummy and there are no lighting effects when you pull it. Is this true?

so wait.. that vid shows no a"actions" when the trigger is pressed? And no sounds? for 500.00???? It also looks like plastic. I know the old MR phasers had problems but at least they had more bells and whistles. I think I'll wait for the toy version later this year

I think what is even worse is that The Wand Company managed one with all of the bells and whistles for 150.00. You would think for 500.00 they could have at least added a bit more than just the power level and on/off indicator. It appears though they went for a direct copy of the filming models which did not have any lighting or sound effects on them.

I agree. I get that they made exactly what they use (I guess) but for 500 bucks I want more. Maybe that’s just me. And lets face it. If it was “exact copies” we all needed, then all those TOS phasers that everyone has would look like garbage.

I'm sure the small run size (6 waves @ 50 per wave) makes the per unit cost of production high and the licensing fees are then spread over a small number of units. Not sure how many TOS phasers were sold by The Wand Company, but I'd have to estimate several thousands. However, agree that for $500 a working trigger and a sound chip are a very reasonable expectation.

I have over the years watched fan made props go much higher. And they were not this good. And with their track record. Are we all sure they will get all the runs out?... If they take to long. People may just cann the order. So far. We only know of about 5 that have shown up.

Also, the Wand Co. phaser was mass-produced. These are hand made, sort a speak

I received mine last week and very happy with it. Sure, there is room for improvement - a power clip that doesn't have to be screwed in and a trigger that doesn't do anything (how difficult would it have been to have the trigger work a light on the gun barrel?) etc - but this was always sold as a display piece, not a working costume prop. The build quality on mine is very good with the casting very crisp. Sure, you could have made the main body from metal but how would that greatly improve the prop? It would make it overly heavy to wear with a costume and externally it would make no difference at all as the paint job would cover it. Certainly some of the chrome painted parts would be improved by being proper metal but that's just a small niggle as there's only a few on the prop. So, as a display piece, I think it's excellent. As to the $500 price tag, I'm not going there. As with everything, it's worth whatever you're willing to pay for it.
