Recently, I obtained a 1979 Mattel Cylon Raider toy off of Listia; I had some points I had earned on Listia, and it had the canopy and everything:
In any event, after getting it, I realized that while not in scale with my Moebius TOS Viper, for the Digital Illustrations I do, I don't need it to be in scale. So, I I began work on it...
This is the result:
I began by washing the toy in dish soap and hot water, which also removed the now-crumbling stickers. I then took to tracing the raised panel lines molded onto the top with an xacto knife, then scraping the raised stuff off and leaving the engraved version. behind.
From there, it was just a matter of masking tape and some paint; while not 100 percent accurate, it should be good enough for my illustrations.
