Eye balls best method

So, I plan on making eye balls for my predator bust. As realistic as possible. Using two halves of a ping pong ball. I plan on drilling a hole in the centre for the pupil and then placing piece of black plastic behind. I want to then fill it with clear epoxy but I don't have any, could I thicken some liquitex varnish some how?

Oh yeah. I commissioned a guy on eBay specialising in eyeballs but I wasn't happy with the result, they looked nothing like and I didn't like the craftsmanship so didn't buy them. I ve reached the point where I have fallen out of love with the project after nearly 3 years and want to move on. But I can't justify starting another bust until it's finished. It just needs eyes, so I want to work with what I have knocking around. I've got the balls in two halves with holes drilled. They just need painting up. I just need a material to fill the hole so it looks like a lens pupil. Or a round clear disc like a contact lens I could stick over it. Epoxy is expensive and I've no desire to buy any.

clear lenses you could ty to make out of clear plastic(packing plastic, clear soda bottles etc)
Heat up the clear plastic with fire, heatgun or boiling water and then press a marble or a rounded object(screwdriver grip handle) in the heated plastic.
This will give you enough relief to make a lens like dome
then cut the pressed rounds out.
This should give you some nice clear lenses.
Glue them on with 5min epoxie or pvc glue to prevent fogging of the clear lens.
Since the rim of the lens is usually darker you can nicely hide te glued border with more opake paint.
Seal the eye with gloss varnish or future.
