StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt) FINISHED - Now with a ton of pics.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

Spent the last 2 days working this up.

Heres how I made them much more sturdy.

BC144.jpg

Got them all put together. This is before all the sanding and fixing some stuff up.
BC145.jpg

And now here done today is the bottom sides.

BC146.jpg

And the top sides. I still want to add a bit more, just not sure what yet.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

Got my income tax back today, so I went and spent $60 on model parts, kits and supplies. Most I've spent in one sitting on this.
Been busy at work, but want to wait til I get the parts I'm working on for pics, but soon.
The more I get done, the more I look at this and think....wow, I can't believe I made this.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

Been working on the bottom halfs. Here they are before adding any detail.

BC148.jpg

Cutting out details. Kept gluing my fingers together because the pieces are so small.

BC149.jpg

Heres the back side which doesn't have as much detailing.

BC150.jpg

The back, which was insanely hard to make.

BC151.jpg

BC152.jpg

The top part where I added some more.

BC153.jpg

BC154.jpg

Pencil size reference.

BC155.jpg

Been working on the wing parts for so many months now, that I feel like I'm working on a different model since starting the body.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

Got to work on the head now.
Made these sides. This one was not to bad to make, the second one for the other side ended up being more tricky for some reason.
BC156.jpg

Glued on.
BC157.jpg

BC158.jpg

Both on with pieces glued on top of those.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

More. Didn't take a whole of pics while working, but got lots done.

I like how this part came out. I think I used a little bit from each kit I have and more. The black part is actually from a printer I took apart where the paper comes out after printing, I just cut off one of the pieces.
BC165.jpg

Decided to add some pipes.

BC166.jpg

Little more here.

BC167.jpg

Where I'm at now. Moving slow today. Our AC isn't working and the guy can't come check it til tomorrow and it was 88 a bit ago. Sweating my face off.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

Decided to work on these guys again.

BC169.jpg

I was so worried I would cut something wrong, slip while cutting it, or glue something off center. So glad they actually turned out really great.

BC170.jpg

Dry fitted.

BC171.jpg

Decided today that I better go ahead and prime and paint it flat black before gluing them on as it will be harder later on.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

So I actually got a ton done this weekend. Still went by too fast.
Started with these 6 pieces underneath.
BC173.jpg

Then added these strips.

BC174.jpg

And then started gluing on these boxes I made months ago.

BC175.jpg

Something the game didn't have was a ton of detail around these boxes, but I thought it would look good. Tops aren't glued yet.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

Got more done under the head, but moving on to the back for now.

BC188.jpg

Added detailing around the back side. I really don't like to add panel lines, not becuase I don't like how the look, but because its so easy to mess up. But, thought they would look best here.

BC182.jpg

BC183.jpg

Then started adding some random tubes in an asymmetrical way.

BC184.jpg

Popped in a thruster and have now realized that there are all too small.

BC185.jpg

So I went and bought a bit bigger pipe and marked where it will be cut.

BC186.jpg

Since the old one worked so well, I'll find a way to add it into the middle of the new one and connect them.

BC187.jpg

It looks much better like this, just have a lot of figuring out to do. Glad I hadn't added detail to the outside of the old part yet.

Re: StarCraft BattleCruiser (Scratchbuilt)

All that detail work looks very natural to the ship's design. The whole thing is looking pretty great.
