Flaking Graflex clamp

Hi y'all

Has anyone encountered a graflex clamp that looks like it's skin is peeling off? There's no yellow underneath, since the clamp is not brass, but the shiny outer coating is peeling away on a 2 cell I just picked up. Is there any way to halt this? (coating it with something, using one of Roy's clamp covers, etc.)

Thanks!

if you want to stop the flaking process, try renaissance wax. It gives a thin coating on the outside, so I'm guessing this might help a little

Get out! I use this on a few props already :) thanks for the tip!

Any other stronger methods? is this clamp done for?

What's the cost for something like that?

Romans has clamps for 40. Unless you are adamant about everything being vintage.
