I have lusted after owning a blade runner blaster for the last few years or so since I first saw the movie.
I picked up a cheapo toy blaster with similar styling on ebay and had started doing some bondo work, but pushed it to the side as it was pretty bad...I wont punish you all with pictures!
The metal models have always been out of budget, so the quest begins for something I can piece together to get the best bang for the buck as possible!
Here we go:
I have already started two projects, and figured now is better than never to start documenting.
I have a fullcock water gun I am converting, as well as a 3D printed version as designed by Andrew Foster, and shared generously on my mini factory, as well as thingiverse.
They are both dang close in scale which is really cool.
On the water gun, I have done a few things that might help others. I sanded the outside with super fine sandpaper, just enough to get it hazy, and then shook paint around inside it...this gives me a finish im extremely happy with. I also have the grips cut out to prep for running resin cast.
The 3D version is still underway, hopefully by the end of the week it will all be printed and I can worry about how to make it better. I REALLY want cast grips for it but am not sure which will fit, and dont want to spend a ton on them....if I had something to make a mold with id attempt to cast my own.
That about catches up to where I am at, hopfully there will be more structure to this as the builds progress. If my acount ever gets activated at propsummit I hope to get in on a few runs for metal parts to add to one of these builds...the more metal the better!
