Planning to see it as soon as it opens here.

I saw it this morning, and it’s a brilliant addition to the Bladerunner world. I saw the Final Cut of the original again last Friday and I think that helped me appreciate the subtle callbacks to the original in this film.

The original cast cameos are in context, and not just there for show. The final scene evokes Roy Batty’s final moments beautiful, I could here his words ringing in my head as I watched it.

I’m going to rewatch the original and the three featurettes before heading back to see 2049 again.

Since this is a spoiler thread, I am only interested if Deckard makes it out alive or not. That is the only thing I care about. Anyone? PM will be good also. Thanks!

It won't be for everybody. But I was hugely satisfied by the end of it.

Visually I don't think there will be a more powerful and striking film this year (and perhaps for many yet to come). There are some of the most absolutely beautiful and haunting images I've seen on screen for decades, which, coupled with perhaps the best soundtrack since the original (because it was so reverential toward it) hits a lot of the beats , both the old and new .You may find this digs deeply into your soul, it certainly did with me .

All those moments (and there were many). The old dog looking out of that broken window,or perhaps when Harrison gets that lesson in pain then, the fight in the broken casino showroom and those shots of spinners drifting over terribly desolate landscapes. Truely more "tears in the rain" than I'd thought they would ever manage to get into a sequel.

And I also really appreciated some of the scripting choices they made with the story. They preserved so much by doing the right thing by the original. But it will shock at times as well.

A truely remarkable piece of work by the standards of its predecessor and by itself. And I cannot think of a better person than Villeneuve to take on "Dune" after seeing this.

That sounds VERY encouraging, and is in line with what most critics (still under NDA) said. Can't wait.

I just came back from seeing it.

It will take a while for me to process all of it.

If I had anything to gripe about, it would be the music and soundscape. They had turned up the music to 11 at times to really beat the audience with the feelings of the lead: K (Ryan Gosling).
Overall, I found the soundtrack lacking though. They used one track from the original so as to instil the feel of the original, and ran variations of it all throughout the movie. There was a lack of melody, which they tried to make up for by being bombastic.
The music does not have any character of its own, is not a character like in the 1982 movie. There was no tune in my head that I took with me when I left.

The ending felt somewhat unfinished. As if it was left open for a sequel.

wow,saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it.visuals and acting great.
so different to Bladerunner but so much links to it and more so the plotlines between each film.
any minor gripes would be exactly what Darth Lars mentions.
i will say this, the film will polarise people just like bladerunner did, back in the 80's.
villeneuve is a genius,up there with miller, nolan, scott and cameron......and yeah can you imagine what he will do with Dune!

I thought it was stunning. Hell of a lot to process, though, and I need to see it again as soon as possible. The thing that really stood out for me was that this seems like a movie totally out of time. If you didn't like the original (boring, slow pretentious blah blah) this movie is going to do nothing to change your mind. Long, contemplative, free of frenzied editing and ADD Bayisms, it's film I just don't know how millenial audiences are going to take.

For me it's a Blade Runner sequel we never asked for, but one we deserve.

saw it yesterday afternoon in essentially a private screening (14 other people), and i thought it was great.

I was surprised right out the gate about a certain reveal that unless I missed something was kept very well hidden (and there were several more well kept secrets too).

Going back and watching the trailers afterwards it's interesting to see just how much they showed in them, and seeing all the little bits of misdirection they put in there with different lines of dialogue and such.

Probably won't see it again until the bluray comes out, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing it again.

Absolutely amazing. I came out seriously questioning what was real or not, and feeling like a different person than when I went in.

and Denise you sneaky *******, you managed to add to the “Deckard is a replicant” idea without straight up answering it one way or another.
”I know what’s real...”
