RIP Tom Petty

Rest In Peace Tom, and thanks for the great music.
(I know he was just pulled off of life support, but with no brain activity).
 
TMZ update 1:35 PM PT -- Sources tell us at 10:30 Monday morning a chaplain was called to Tom's hospital room. We're told the family has a "do not resuscitate" order on Tom. The singer is not expected to live through the day, but he's still clinging to life. A report that the LAPD confirmed the singer's death is inaccurate -- the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. handled the emergency.

I once watched a documentary on Tom Petty that was like 4 hours long and wasn't bored a second. Captivating performer. I love sharing "Girl on LSD" with people when we talk music.
 
on AOL they are saying he is still "clinging" to life??? even tho everyone has reported he passed?? I just read the article header... :confused

Yeah. A lot of confusion and disinformation was initially reported. All indications though are that he has a DNR, and is barely hanging on to life at this point. The odds are not in his favor.

This one stings. High school summers at the beach will ALWAYS be inextricably linked to his catalog. The songs immediately bring me back. Great, clean, uplifting tunes that made it great to be a kid. God bless him.
 
I didn't hear any of the news yesterday. I logged into a news site this morning to get an update on the Vegas situation and saw a picture of Tom holding a Rickenbacker. My first thoughts were "wow, that's a pretty guitar". After oogling the guitar for a few seconds my eyes drifted up to the headline. My heart just dropped. Tom was one of my favorites. He will be missed.
