All right I'm gonna jump into this WIP writeup half way through completing the costume so bear with the long post.
Sweeney Todd is my favorite musical (Rocky Horror taking first) so this Halloween I'll be the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, specifically the outfit he's wearing when he kills his first victim. His clothes varies subtly throughout the movie but I like the look of that set of clothes best. For accuracy's sake, I wanted to sew as much as I could from scratch.
I used some off white Linen for the shirt. I found a decent button down shirt pattern which I used to make the torso and collar and made the arms and cuffs from scratch. The arms maybe came out a touch too puffy but I can only tell from staring at reference material for the last week and a half.

I know there's some embroidering on his shirt next to the plackets but its very hard to notice and would be too difficult to replicate or find a replica of.
Had to make the vest completely from scratch and drew up the pattern on an old bed sheet.

Making sure it fits.

And sewed together

I found some pretty close buttons to whats in the film. They were crazy frustrating to place.

I tried to replicate the sunbleached look of his vest with some acrylics. The result could be better but it works.

There's the leather tie thing going on in the back.

The shirt buttons I'm fairly certain are pinwheel dorset buttons. Done by hand and they take like 45 min each so doing all of them is taking forever but I think the effect is worth it. Gives it a really authentic feel.

This was the closest scarf I could find (https://www.etsy.com/listing/290013515/knitted-scarf?show_sold_out_detail=1). Got this Razor (https://www.amazon.com/Whetstone-10-5-inch-Straight-Razors/dp/B002CIDQFE) and these pants (https://www.amazon.com/Steve-Harvey...1&keywords=blue+chalk+stripe+pants&th=1&psc=1).
I wanted to make the pants from scratch but I couldn't find a single fabric shop in Houston that sold navy blue chalk stripe.
Got this wig (https://elevatestyles.com/p/best-fu...c-l-parting-swiss-lace-front-wig-aiden.html#/) that I'm going to sew some white wig parts into.
Costume's finished!
