BANDAI Teeny Tiny Millenium Falcon (006 kit)

I’m finally getting back into painting this TINY falcon Bandai kit. I’d planned on getting the large 1/72 upcoming kit, but decided not to, seeing as I just don’t have the space to display it—which would be a real shame. So I’m going to settle for the opposite, this tiny falcon. The top half is just about done (still need to paint the turret window black). the underside hasn’t been worked on yet.

It’s actually so much more difficult to paint this one than the 1/72 scale kits i’ve worked on before. It’s a real test of patience and eye strain; just so tiny! I’d have to say though, the details they were able to pack onto this thing is just jaw dropping.

l’ll be posting more updates here as I move along. I will also be building some sort of custom stand for it as well, since the stand it comes with is kind of ugly.

Looking really nice so far! I just picked up one of these myself, the detail on it really is incredible, I'm gutted I never picked up the Star Destroyer when my local hobby shop had them in.

Did you use any of the stickers that came with it? They look like they'll be a bit too raised and bumpy. Not relishing the prospect of hand painting the all the little red and dark grey panels!

Thanks! I ended up painting everything on mine. I felt the stickers just looked out of scale, as you’d mentioned, too raised and bumpy. Not very fun to paint, but the results look better I think!

Really nice job, can i ask if u undercoated first and then weathered or are the coloured panels and weathering applied right onto the original plastic colour? Im still procrastinating before starting mine lol

I did spray it with primer first and then very thin layers of Tamiya model paint on top. I took my time to apply the paint as thin as possibe because you don’t want the paint to start building up too much around the details. Luckily the modelling spray paints go on fine enough! The original plastic tends to not hold the aging technique as well as paint(I use artist pastels). The paint also makes the surface nicer looking; less plastic-like.

Wow, I would never have guessed that to be a 1/350 scale model. Looks perfect

Excellent job

Thank you! It’s definitely a different challenge working in this scale. Slow work with very small marks careful marks, but the result is fun for sure!

That's one of the best scale paint jobs I've ever seen on such a tiny MF.
You could have told me this was an ILM shooting miniature and I'd have believed you.
Fantastic work, man!

Thanks, I really appreciate the comment! Once I finish painting up the underside, I’m going to work on some kind of stand for it; probably a death star base tile.

It’s still mind boggling just how much detail Bandai was able to cram into this tiny Falcon. That’s a wonder in itself!

No lighting or anything fancy though. I just knocked it out as a painting exercise.
