Show your Replica Lightsabers!!

We have a thread like this for custom sabers, but not one dedicated to replicas (at least not as far as I know).

So, whether it's metal or cardboard, £1 or £100, let's see what you've got - homemade or otherwise!!

Welllllllllllllll, there might be a few threads like this...

https://www.therpf.com/search.php?searchid=2386549 ;)

Most of them are for specific lightsaber replicas, but with 55+ pages showing up with "Lightsaber" in the title, I think there might be a thread to revive in there somewhere.

Some of the notable threads are:

Luke ROTJ V2... https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=1862 <---CHECK OUT THAT LOW THREAD NUMBER!!!

Thin-necks... https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=275362

Anakinstarkiller v2... https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=244175

Nick'sDad... https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=273841

Some cool Replica Videos... https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=270500

Obi-Wan Lightsabers... https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=81181

O.K. So, I started this post several hours ago, I could swear there was a Replica Sabers Thread, and there might be, but it's lunchtime and I'm giving up trying to find it. :wacko

....but I haven't found any just like it. I'll have to take a new pic of my Roman's Empire/Props Obi-Wan Mk1 Machined FX for ya tonight and help you get the ball rolling! Unless you were looking for licensed replicas? I don't have any to help with on that account. Anywho, off to eat!

So life got in the way there a bit, here's some pics now though! My camera couldn't quite capture the uber-cool lighting effect I was trying to create in the first pic, so I took another in regular light that turned out nicely. Here's my Roman's Empire/Props Obi-Wan Kenobi Mk1 FX Machined Finish Lightsaber Replica...

Still all new and shiny! I need to pick up another one to paint/weather and give it some extra personality. Or if Roman makes a Stainless Steel Edition, I'll keep that one all shiny and new and paint/weather this one. ;)

Hi Ridire Firean,
I had seen those threads before, but I was thinking this could be more of a general show-off thread for any replica lightsabers, regardless of who made the lightsaber, whether it was bought or homemade, etc etc.

Way to kick this off with a bang! That's a beautiful looking lightsaber (unfortunately way beyond my budget - but beautiful nonetheless [emoji4] )The original trilogy props have always been my favourites; I think there's something about the "found objects" universe that was lacking in the prequels.

Hopefully I'll have something to contribute very soon. Stay tuned. [emoji6]

This might open the thread a little. Not accurate to any one specific film because its a modded toy :)
I saw potential in the hasbro version of the ROTS Obi saber bought from a car boot sale.

Toy body was cut to bits with a long galv bolt running the whole length and set in the plastic with car filler. It's real heavy.
The emiter end is all metal just glued together around a pignose nut on the galv bolt. Bronse tube, washers and part of a specialist concrete drill bit are all involved.

Hey modelcitizen ! It's a Custom Blade Plug I made having seen one similar to it made by ARKM on Evil-Henchman's Custom GRAFLEX. I inverted the razor head and used a wood block to knock a raised section in the center layer of blade guard fins (shows up better on the non-inverted ones I made for my GRAFLEXes), drilled a hole through it, that stuff is SUPER DIFICULT TO DRILL THROUGH, polished a field-point and pressed it into the hole. I got super lucky with my razor shield choice and it fits snugly into Roman's LED holder without modification! And even luckier that it all fits together with the Tri-Cree LED Star that I made and Lens in place! Now I just have to wire it all up.

The idea is that since Obi-Wan's lightsaber is so old in the movies and that we can't see anything specific down in the concave "cone" of the emitter, that I decided it would be fitting to create a convex "cone" point that would act as a focusing center for the blade. Much like a sparkplug point that needs to be replaced over time, and since this is basically 'As First Built By Without Paint', this is my imagination of what the center of the emitter would look like when Obi-Wan first built his lightsaber. Out in the desert on Tatooine, and without supplies to refurbish his lightsaber, Obi-Wan's "point" withered away down through the center of the emitter. The lightsaber still functions in this state, it just isn't as sharp as it would be if the point was replaced. That's why it flickers and appears to "blink out" at times during A New Hope. ;) And too, why Luke's GRAFLEX's point has eroded down to a flat cylindrical shape!

So, here's some closeups of my interpretation of Obi-Wan's Lightsaber's Emitter in 'As First Built By' state...

Ridire Firean, I think the blade plug is a great idea! I love the amount of thought you've put into it's "in-universe" function - I can certainly imagine that being the case for all lightsabers in the film.

Love it!! If you hadn't said so, I never would have guessed that this was a toy - bravo! I really like the dirtied, weathered effect you've managed to achieve, that "used universe" effect is something almost synonymous with Star Wars props.

And speaking of modified toys, here's my BladeBuilders Kylo Ren saber, weathered to look more like the original prop:

I have a separate thread with more photos and an explanation of how I modified the toy here.

Very cool build. Pretty amazing what you were able to do with the toy. A great paint job can really make all the difference!
