Going to be using Weldon #2354. Solvent specifically used for ABS

Cut a few small ABS Tabs to begin holding the two large halves together

Re: My RS Prop kit build

I'm using the supplied strips of ABS to make z brackets to hold the lens in place.

Oh yea...I also plastdip sprayed the interior of the faceplate

Second layer of plastidip spray and the lens fits perfectly.
Easy to remove for cleaning :)

Oh, now that's an interesting idea. I was going to glue mine in place as seems to be standard, but I'm going to look mine over and consider your strategy further...

Re: My RS Prop kit build

Darn...

I accidentally deleted the bondo pics from my memory card :facepalm

Anyways, I ran out of grey primer, so I used white primer.

Still obvious signs of needing more sanding

haha I got alittle excited on how it looks close to done, I started adding the inner padding and fans.

Oh yea...plastidipped spray the inside as well

Comfy!!! :D

I'm glad to see someone release steps about building this since RS Props still hasn't released the video they said they would release. "We will post up a video before these helmets ship showing how to correctly build it."

Yep, not the most conventional way of doing it, but it was also done for the purpose of possibly going from clean to weathered (which would make painting a whole lot easier).

I'm still undecided.

Well...

I don't know if this is the correct way, but that's how I'm doing it :p

That is one of the reasons the lack of the video is annoying. They imply they know something others may not be doing "correct", they sell the kits with no instructions at all, and they drag their feet on releasing the promised "correct" instructional video. A kit as expensive as that should have instructions at the time of release.

I got tired of waiting as well.

Was hoping I could get insight from the experts. Maybe they had special tips.

Oh well.

I built an RS kit a couple of years ago for the charity "biker scout helmet project" .
I found it really easy ..after all, because you are going to,paint it , you can apply as much filler as you like ..instantly hide ant mistakes !
I can't think of any expert insight that is required .

I agree about the expert insight now, but at the time, once I received it I just tucked it away until I saw any announcement.
I haven't even checked out anyone's builds in the bikerscout.net

Last sunday, I finally had the house to myself (wife and kids was at a birthday party). ;)
So I thought...what the hell, lets do this :)

its pretty much straight forward

I apologize for no updates.

Been working on this at the same time

So yesterday I went back to the helmet.
413732998.jpg

I did the square cut for the 3m bolt.

413733000.jpg

Nice and tight. The lid stays up properly.

Everything else went by so fast.

-Masked the nose
-sprayed with black paint
-sprayed the mouth piece

I will eventually replace with Ukswrath scout audio system

Applied the decals
