Deathstroke Foam Armour

Hi peeps,
I wanted to share this build, mainly due to the amount of help I got from the various topics on this site which helped me greatly I becoming capable of making it in the first place.

To start I found some reference images, fortunately thanks to the one I am working on being from a game this was much easier.

Unfortunately this image by itself does enable me to pick apart a lot of the armours parts but I found some of the view blocked or unclear so, I bought the game and found the ingame model viewer to take some additional pictures.
*note that the images actually show almost completely different armour which I found annoying but as crafting is partly adding your own style to it I decided to pick the parts I wanted or thought looked best and continued


So with all the source materials I began making my patterns, this was all done using the tin foil and tape technique thus making each pattern be specific to my own dimensions.
Then transferred them to foam and cut them out using box cutter, exacto depending on the foam used, shaped the foam if required using a heat gun and then stuck them together using impact cement.
Detail was added using a dremel or slicing with exacto and heat gun.
Most pieces were treated with acrylic caulk to fill seams then hit with a few coats of pva mixed with water then coated with platidip.
Some pieces I decided to move away from foam and instead used thermoplastic (worbla).




*I have made more pieces but do not have pictures of them at this phase, but I feel this shows the base I'm working from well and gives you an idea of my process in making the parts.

Then it was treated with a car body spray paint and once dry hit with either a graphite spray through a matt to give the design.
The copper colour parts were hand painted and all of it was then detailed and dry brushed using acrylic which is barely noticeable in these pictures but looks great up close




I'm currently spraying the back piece with platisdip as I write this and I have the gauntlet base pattern all laid out so I will add some additional images once those are painted up.


Here is the back piece painted with the insert that will cover the strap attachments from the front.

I'm now currently sealing the foam for the bracers and have put the last coat of glue over the wood filler I used to smooth the worbla, hopefully weather permitting I will paint the insert and the bracers tomorrow and be able to add some pictures of them.

I'm about half way through making one of the gauntlets.

Well as this costume was intended as a piece for a convention in October I was rushed and thus did not manage to add more pictures of work in progress and as my wife decided she wanted to also cosplay I had to build a Mass effect costume in less than a week.

So my apologies but here is the end result...
