Custom Skull Mask

Hey everyone, this year for Halloween, I decided to sculpt a custom skull mask. I'm used to doing all manner of hard-edge modeling and armor and whatnot, so it was incredibly refreshing to take on something organic and hand-sculpted. I used Prima Plastilina clay for it - it's not ideal for this kind of work, but it's what I use for my moldmaking clay ups, so I already had it on-hand. But it worked out well enough, and for being a 20-hour sculpt, I couldn't be happier with the results!

Since I made a mold of it, if there's any interest in castings, I'll happily offer some for sale in the Classified section!

The finished casting is simply painted with some Rustoleum blackened bronze with a black wash, and then antique gold Rub N Buff applied on top.

beautifully done. Is the mask resin? I'm guessing? I've sculpted for a long time, but never had the guts to actually cast anything.

Thanks everyone!

Yep, urethane resin. As someone who basically molds everything, it wasn't terribly nerve wracking to me. Though, the unfortunate side effect to molding it is that the clay master was necessarily damaged during the demolding process. But that had to happen anyways as that clay needed to be returned to normal circulation in my shop.
