I'm working on an art project for a local gallery and I'm almost done with the display, however, having a replica of this helmet would be the perfect finishing touch.
I've looked high and low for weeks trying to find the correct base helmet to no avail. I thought it must be a vintage fireman's or safety helmet but I'm coming up with anything that even comes close.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated including adding your name to the art credit for the display.

Here's what it looks like:

Many thanks in advance!

Seems like an English Fire Fighter helmet...I could confirm with my Father (he's the specialist). The production seems to had put their hands on decommissioned lids and transformed them accordingly: absence of the 3 colored "cocarde" at the side, emblems at the front and any brass metal. I'll send an email to my Father this aft. for confirmation:)

I was thinking the same thing but again after weeks of looking I found nothing.

Yes, the budget for that movie was...low;) The helmet was modded on a WWI French infantry helmet. Various transfos were made to achieve the final look (fiberglass): they kinda kept the upper part (albeit cut at the front) and removed the back of the helmet and replaced with a flat piece covering the back/nape of the neck (kept the original front). Added a "spine, going to the cut-out upper part to the front visor.
The inside (ear muffs) were made either from a climber type of "cagoule" or custom made for the movie. Uniform is not difficult to make, but for the belt...seems to be a fire-fighter belt for the 1900's.

Well rats. I was hoping this would be an "off the shelf" helmet but it's starting to look like it was a custom job.
