HELP! Full head faceless mask

I'm trying to make a full head faceless mask, but I've never made a mask like this before... I need to be able to see and it will be black.... any pointers or advice? I have included reference images...

The Spiderman mask construction comes to mind. Perhaps a clear vacuum formed shell with a black spandex hood over the top.
