Salzo V5 X-Wing pattern work

Damn, Jason, you have your own ILM now? Mount looks cool! Hey, did you happen to get my email?

I don't think i did?
Yeah, Faux ILM East ;)

Wait - that pic is from the shop in Oregon where my friend is making those. I'm still toiling away in an East Coast basement built in 1925... lol.

Thank you and to the others for explaining this.

Another question... The metal armature looks like it is fastened to the wings via screws. How do we do this without damaging or cracking the resin? I know you have to pre-drill the holes but do they need to be tapped or can the screws be self tapping without damaging or cracking the resin?

With the V5, you only need to drill one hole - through the plate/wing as shown here:

Wires go through the central hole in the L bracket, up and through the hole drilled, and back into the engine (which is hollow/accepts lights with a quick drilling)

For a bottom mount, wires can meet at the bottom - tie all four together:

Without being the ‘Master of the Obvious’...I would glue the wing to the aluminum ‘L’ bracket first, then drill/screw it together to make it a strong unit.

I got my replica pylons in the mail yesterday and initial test with leds look great!

I purchased a set thank you. Wondered if you would ever consider Rebel X-wing Helmet decals 1/24 for Red 1 to 12 for possible future sets unless already done? Thanks

FYI,

Have any of you heard of Nicholas Sagan of Cosmos Models ( https://cosmosmodels.wordpress.com/ ) ? He currently has two "Studio Scale X-Wing decals" (ex. Red & Blue squadrons from the R1 film) on Ebay.

He's working on two commission builds for me ( Rouge One Blue Leader/1 & Blue 5 ... you can see it on the "ON THE BENCH" on his website ), and he has enough references to create the decals for the X-Wings and pilots ... I'm sure he can customize/commission a set (X-Wing and/or pilot) for you. He's a great guy to work with!!!

Thanks!

I am planning a display case for all of my models, and I am trying to figure out how much shelf real estate I need. Can someone provide me with a rough dimension of this kit when it is completed? Mine is still neatly packed away, otherwise I would just measure it myself.

Hiya all,

I am a newbie here, and could use some kind advice. Like, who should I bribe to order a V5? Built some of them from various manufacturers as a kid (48 now). I have currently underway a 1/24 Sith Planet one with a Falcon 3D cockpit and the Revell 1/29. Latter with extensive modding and upgrading both from Falcon parts and scratch to make a snaptite toy a proper model.

But I consider them sorta practice and would like to get my hands on the real deal.
