D23 Thanos statue costume question

I was wondering what you would use for creating the gold portions of Casual Thanos statue revealed at D23 last weekend? I'm leaning more towards a gold vinyl, but would be open to a hard surface, if it were thinner.

I thought of that initially, but I thought it might be too bulky. it looks like it should be a smooth transition between it and the fabric of his shirt.
