3D printed Buckles (W.I,P)

I'm a Mechanical Engineering graduate student on a journey to make a screen accurate Han Solo belt buckle.

I built a set of buckles for Celebration with no input so the results were not to my liking.

My method is simple; I used a pattern and then drafted the design using Solidworks. Version 1.0 was 3D printed and coated with XTC 3D. Version 2.0 will be printed first to check the fit and then sent for metal fabrication with the buckles finished with a brushed aluminum texture.

Here are my progress shots of the ESB buckles. I would love your input.

Thanks very much :) if you wind up having some success this might be something cool to get machined by front panel Express or similar
