Thanks mmhnc for taking the time and the kind words.

All the best with ur upcoming build as well. Post some pics when finished [emoji482]

I've built this blaster twice now and this one in this video was my first attempt. It's not the blaster that's in this build thread but it's pretty much the same (I've modified some minor details to this new build). Otherwise it's identical.

I overlaid it with the picture of the film blaster I was trying to duplicate.

Here is a quick build of Han's HOTH mount bracket. I recently updated the design (subtle modification) so I needed to rebuild it for my blaster. Thought I would share this process as well.

This is what I'm "shooting" for..

This is what I'm starting with..

Also have a synthetic "mystery disk" on hand that I'll build as well as this metal one..

Next I like to attached everything to make sure it all lines up. In this case I'm only adding this mount to a build I've already completed so it's pretty straight forward. Just need to attach and screw everything together..

After it dries I lightly sand the synthetic parts..

Then add some metallic brass and metallic silver paint..

Add the 3/4" sticker the the synthetic "mystery disk" after I've added the brass as I did with the metal one..

Now repeat the painting process with the brass and silver where it's needed..

Add some flat black paint (rub it off the center of the "mystery disk" with my thumb as soon as it's applied)..

Now for the additional weathering..

To stay in line with the prop that's on display I'll add some glue residue to the center circle of the "mystery disk". It's widely disputed as to what this disk actually is, the actual film prop had an additional knob that has been lost somewhere along the way.

What's left is a glue residue and for this I use epoxy over the brass paint..

Build yourself a Luke Skywalker DL-44 Blaster!

First you need to turn that Denix of yours into something a little more film accurate.

The end goal with these mods is for someone to look and NOT see any of the mods so to speak.

So this thread is showing how I go about modifying a denix to bring it that much closer to what you actually see (a live fire was used) in the filming of EMPIRE.

These are some pics of a Fully modified denix build of Luke's BESPIN blaster that I have previously finished..

EDIT/UPDATE: Luke’s film Bespin FYI doesn’t have that Motor/coil back greeblie you see below and also seen on the Master Replicas version..

This is what I will be starting with..
d849fc4a0de01540dc099fa9d7d44bb5.jpg

Below are just some of the details I will be adding (or in some parts removing)..

• The barrel of the Denix modified to fit the FH
• Removed the Denix branding
• Greeblies
• Reversing the Sight
• Removing the Bolt on Butt
• extraction marking added to Denix
• Film Accurate Grip Screws
• Reshapping the Trigger
• Cleaning up the soft casting
• Reshaping the Hammer

There is no particular order to go about building your denix so for this build I've decided to start with adding the scope, mount and flash hider first.

But first I take apart the denix as much as needed to prep for what lies ahead..

Now I cut off the front sight on the barrel to allow for the flash hider to just slide right on..

Then use the Dremel to smooth it out while putting on some safety goggles to keep the shards from blinding me..

EDIT/UPDATE: in this thread I set the Mount a tad high so use these new pics as a guild line for where u want to place urs. In the end it’s obviously completely up to you..

Next up is drilling the mount hole. First I find out just where I want it to be then use center punch to set up my drill bit..

I start by using a small drill bit to find the center punch hole and move upwards from there to drill in the "1/4-20" sized hole for the mount..

Again I did use a bit a little bigger than the previous one before jumping to this 1/4-20 one below..
