Comic-style Dredd

And a few more of the updated Eagle. Getting ready to seal everything and then start the molding process....

And so the molding process begins! Inside of the pep bucket painted and slushed with black onyx from smooth on, and the inner ridges built up with bondo. Will begin to sculpt and shape the outside this week. Foam pieces have been partially sealed with a glue/ water mix. Now layering on mod podge before a coating of smooth cast 305. Then they will be ready to mold as well.

No more foam. Everything has been coated is smooth cast 305. Now to sand the shoulder and prime them.

Ok, for anyone casually dropping by to see what's going on here, I have a question: what kind of finish do you prefer for comic style Dredd armor?
1st picture = polished brass
2nd = candy golden yellow
3rd = pale gold

1 and 2 are considered high gloss finish, but 3 is not. Let me know!

1 Polished Brass, the shoulders are looking amazing :)

So, the shoulders are just foam covered in smooth cast 305 then primed?
More or less, yes. The left shoulder is made with eva foam and craft foam. After it was assembled, I sealed it with pva glue and then mod podge. Next I coated it twice with smooth cast, sanded and then primed.

The eagle was obviously more detailed, but the same general steps. The claws are baking clay.

Temporarily stalled but will be getting back to it in short order. My airbrush kit arrived along with three Alclad paints for the armor. Also got in my angelus leather paints for the gloves and boots.

I grabbed some motorcycle gloves as the base. I don't care for the motocross gloves for the comic version. In casting greeblies for the back of the hand and making pouches from scratch. Here are a couple of unpainted mock ups:

All Angelus products. I used the deglazer to strip off the finish, then used Angelus green paint thinned out with 2-Thin and airbrushed on. Works really well and this is my first time using it
