Rey costume from The Last Jedi (possible spoilers)

Oh, yeah if you have any references that'd be great and much appreciated!

This is all pretty amazing! So well organized. Something I desperately need. One note is that I got a look at a reference shot of Rey's pants and the seam at the top of the knee goes all the way around, curving down the backside of the knee. I didn't see it in your sketches so I wanted to note it just in case. I've also made her cloak. It was fun and I'm so glad to have it. When the new trailer came out I went through some screenshots and noted that the cut of the cloak is square in the back and long in the sides, rather then taped. So basically it is just one big rectangle. I can dig up some pics of what I modified it to be. There are also no seams in the film used cloak. Oof. So I took 60' fabric and used that as width and the length is about 75 inches long (what wraps around me. It overlaps quite a bit in the front). This way there are no seams. I have my first cloak with seams and I love it and wear it on just any ole day, which is fun.

For some reason these are the only shots of the cloak I have (the one I made). It's held together with clips and pins at this point. And some reference shots. And some pants shots where you can see the seam. The last three come from a album of screenshots from the trailer. You can see the shape of the back of the cloak.

Does anyone else feel the belt is wider then the TFA belt?
What demensions is everyone going with?
I'm about to cut into the leather and definitely don't want to waste a piece being wrong,
Robert

Hello everyone! i'm currently piecing together my own version of this outfit, for the life of me i'm not sure what fabric to get as the accurate fabric is very much sold out. Has anyone found any alternatives? at this point I'm looking at modifying a quilt, it would be similar to a Gambeson with how the tunic is shaped, hopefully I can make it work.

Can someone give me a quick measurement?
Need the measurement for the red line.
I have no access to a printer right now, so I have to make my own template.
With that measurement, it shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks you,
Robert

Its my understanding that it is wider...in total the belt is something like 3.5 inches. Kristen Jones makes these belts beautifully and can confirm. But at 3.5 inches that would be about a half inch wider than the Jakku belt.

Here is a picture of that same pattern lined up with my cutting board. Hopefully this helps.

Hello everyone! This will be my first time cosplaying and I was wondering if anyone can send me a sample piece of the fabric used for Rey's brown tunic. I have some connections in India and I can maybe have this fabric replicated.

Has anyone gotten in touch with you about a fabric swatch? I will have some extra in a little bit that I can send out once my tunic is done.

I almost forgot! I went to JoAnn fabrics yesterday...they are having a great sale on patterns...to pick up the Vogue pants pattern you found. I got it and also found this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BURDA-6481...-TROUSERS-TROUSERS-32-42-MODERN-/263194861713

The modifications seem straight forward. You could omit all the pockets easily. Then change the seam detail shapes and you could even probably change the waist band to just elastic to make it more simple. Then add the vertical seam on the thigh. Oh and no zipper on the cuff...but I think I'll keep the elastic. That seems nice. Anyway another option for pants!

Hi guys! It's been a while since I posted (college is sucking all the sewing energy out of me, sadly).

But anyway! I found this pattern: https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v9284 which looks like it would be good to modify for the pants. I figured that I'd share it for people like myself who are very new to pattern crafting, and prefer to use an already established pattern.

Everyone's cosplays seem to be coming along wonderfully! I can't wait for the movie!

Sorry for all the posts in the past few days. I've set aside time to work on this build so I'm up to my neck in all of it and hopefully some of this helps y'all too. I came across these amazingly high res photos of the pants seam details. It also shows the grain and color of the pants.

I love how the site put those two pics together and made it look like one leg is super baggy lololololol

I've just bought this blanket in ivory to dye. It's the right pattern if not as textured as the screen used fabric.

Aaahhhhahaha. I totally didn't see that until now. I love it.

While we're talking pants...I got this fabric that is really great and seems quite accurate. It's got some stretch and a canvas like feel but isn't canvas its baby piqued. Which I never knew is what this fabric is called! Anyway it's promising and inexpensive... relatively.

No, not yet. But if you can send a swatch that would be wonderful!

Got that blanket today, I think it’s a very good substitute for the screen used. As you can see the diamonds are a little smaller and not quite as deep but the look is right.
