I've been working on Arrow props since 2013 and have since made and commissioned several Quivers, Holsters, and various items. My original Arrow build thread is here. It's a bit stale, so I decided to create a new thread!

    Green Arrow Vinyl Holsters

Check out my Holster Time lapse build video here for the complete build process.

Here's the Holsters on the actual Green Arrow costume on display at SDCC 2016.

    Process:

The holsters are made with forest green recycled leather (bonded leather). I've used several different types of materials to make these. Vinyl would work, and of course real leather. I will most likely make another set in leather once I can source the right color hides. The straps are elastic knit stretch fabric. You can find it any local hobby, craft, or arts store. The buckles I use are 1 1/2 inch, so get the same size elastic.

Completed my Green Arrow Leg Holsters in Leather. I have to say I'm very pleased with how they turned out. The Leather has a more screen accurate look and I've worked hard to get the stitching pattern and plastic hardware correct.

I used a now discontinued Minelli Forest Green side from a local Tandy's Leather store.

    Plastic Hardware:

PZDX7145-7146 Rock Lockster Side Release Buckle and a simple Tri-glide. Both are 1 1/2 or 1.5 inches.

    Flechette Holster

You can see here the 3 layers of the holsters. Each traced out using a template. Left to right. Front piece, Middle, Back.

On the back side of the Leather is where you will trace the pattern. Note that you want to leave around 1/2 or .5 inches around the edge of the pattern for sewing and folding. You will also need to draw the chevrons on and cut out the middle part to reveal the 2 layer of black leather. The leather was glued together using Barge Cement. It's what I would recommend for this type of work.

I used my Singer Heavy duty sewing machine to sew the layers together and the stitching pattern around the chevrons. Standard black thread.

To complete the holster you will stitch down the elastic knitting on four sides to complete the strap. I recommend stitching down the straps first to the back piece of the holster and then sewing both the front and back pieces of the holster together around the perimeter.

Same idea here. You can see the 3 layers of the holster. Traced used a template. Left to Right. Front piece, Middle, Back.

We first saw these in Season 4 with the new Green Arrow suit. While they've only been used on screen a few times, they are always present in the straps along the shoulder. It's a small detail that makes a big difference in terms of your cosplay. It adds a lot to even one of the cheaper cosplay suits and improves the front view of your suit.

Here is a great graphic showing them in detail with description. (Credit to @pinder91 and the original The Definitive CW Arrow Thread)

Gadgets are accurately sized and will fit any of my Green Arrow Quivers, and Quiver straps. Straps are 1 1/2 inch leather for reference.

    • Tips and Gadget body are separate parts.
    • Tips easily attach to the body with some light sanding.
    • Glue parts down to permanently bond.
    • 3D Printed in Black and Silver PLA on my Dremel Idea Builder.

    Green Arrow Suit (Season 4)

This was the first Green Arrow cosplay suit I purchased. It's sold by CosplaySky. Vest/jacket along with forearm bracers. It's a mix of pleather and some stretch panels. Here's what it looked like upon arrival.

I used black fabric paint to darken up the panels on the jacket and pants. Here's some photos of the suit. I think it works pretty well for one of the cheaper Green Arrow cosplay options. I also removed the shoulder pants from the vest, and stitched them to a Black under armor shirt.

Awesome work. I've been wanting to start a build of this for a while. I'll definitely use your thread for ideas.

Very cool. You snag the actual bow, or did you work up a mock up out of other materials?
