Homemade Spidey Suits: Show Off/Open Build Thread

Hey everybody! Just wanted to share my speedy rush build of the suit! This thread is so awesome! I think it's the only reliable place to find good references for the webshooters haha :)

Anyways, bought all this stuff yesterday.. Had to buy 2 blue sweat pants, one is very small and I sewed on the 'sleeves' or legs of the pants on to a cheap T-shirt, and the other is a bit larger and I use it for the actual pants ^^' Anyways, I had a blast building all this stuff today! Enjoy :3

I have to rush through this because there's an early screening of the film here (I'm in Belgium so it's not out yet) and they've invited me and a bunch of friends to go there in costume haha :D So excited, but I really wanted to do this Spidey suit!

Can you guys confirm or not if I got the fingerless gloves right? I found some patterns that come up on the knuckle with a 'reversed' webline, and some pictures don't have it... So I really don't know which one is correct :( (basically what I mean by that is that I found the gloves by FilmJackets, and the ones on the Hot Toys and I don't know which are more accurate.. I'm guessing Hot Toys but even they sometimes get things lookin' different before the movie comes out)

Question for you all...why is the screen-used suit's blue under suit so light? It almost looks like a light grey, whereas the blue in the movie photos is more blue.

Is the screen-used suit color just lighter because of the way it shows up on camera/color correction in post?

I took those pics lol. You gotta keep in mind how those promo pics are all saturated and digitally manipulated. Even in the movie it doesn't look like that, it's stills super light on "a film by Peter Parker"

Update on the 3D printable Webshooters.

I modelled the base to be flat, and then after printing it I used a heat gun and curved it to better fit my wrist (I used a can to do this, not my actual wrist). I then glued the cartridges, which I also printed, and then used the tip of a ballpoint pen that I cut as a nozzle. I sprayed it all silver and then hot glued on pieces of an old aux cord.

Not sure what I'm doing for the middle yet. It's not screen accurate, but I think I want to put a small empty CO2 canister in there, since that's simpler than whatever was going on in the film version. It also makes sense to me as an engineer: the web fluid is pushed out by the CO2 cartridge through the nozzle when the button is pressed, idk.

Anyone who already printed by web cartridges: there was a slight scaling issue with them, and they were a bit too big for my straps. If you don't want to reprint them, just print the base at 1.25 scale and it should work perfectly.

Looking at the trigger now has my reeeal spooked. It looks like there's a lot more engineering in there than simple aesthetics, especially if they're going to be pressable. Another factor to convince me to put this project on the back burner for a bit. :(

So I took a break from Spiderman DIY suit research and watched some Youtube, but something in the ad caught my eye... Screenshot_20170724-004640.pnglook at the pockets, they look very close to the ones on the spidey hoodie. I know this probably doesn't help much but it's nice to know that a hoodie with those pockets actually exists somewhere besides the homecoming costume department.

I think these pockets are different, i believe the Spider-Man ones are welt type pockets whereas these are sewn on top. But great find!! If only we could find this hoodie we could have a much closer off the shelf one

By the way this image comes courtesy of technobuffalo.com, there are a few other images of the whole costume here: https://www.technobuffalo.com/video...n-costume-to-celebrate-spider-man-homecoming/
I think the one on their website is a higher res image than this one, not sure though. Hopefully this helps to ID the hoodie.
