I'd like to give a shoutout to all the guys who made this dream possible, and in such a short amount of time:

Mega huge THANK YOU to @scottjua for piecing all these parts together for me, as well as adding some beautiful touches to the grenade, clamp and balance pipe. I jumped into this hobby about a year ago, and Scott has always been so generous with his time and knowledge. I couldn’t be more appreciative. Truly one of the best fellas in the hobby, and man is he talented! Oh, and I can't take credit for these pics, as he snapped them next to his personal Obi build last week just before dropping mine in the mail. What a sight! :'-)

Mr. @ms80444 dealt me this beautiful grenade not too long ago, and has gone above and beyond in trying to help me source a real booster. Just a stand up guy all around! Thanks a ton, brother!

Like many of you, none of this would have been possible without @teecrooz. He sold me a beautiful converted male balance pipe for a very generous price, as well as giving me SimplyProps adapter that I now believe to be more accurate than the cone-shaped ones we usually see in Obi builds. It's an awesome touch! Not to mention he dealt me a Roman's booster to hold me off until I find a real one. I really appreciate everything, Chris.

My friend @Hopkinsc1 helped me source what I believe was my very first part of this build, a beautiful Exactra 20 calculator in a trade sometime this past summer. Very grateful to him for that, as they are becoming more and more scarce.

I acquired the AS Handwheel from @Marv a while back after listing it in the Junkyard sometime this past fall. Super happy I was able to snag it up before someone else did!

The vintage Motorola tranistors and accurate d-ring were provided by @Romans Empire!

The only thing I didn’t source from a fellow RPF’er was the Graflex clamp I picked up on a whim late last year off eBay. At the time, I really didn’t have any intention of completing this project so soon. But somehow one thing lead to another and here we are! I couldn’t be happier, even with the replica booster. I’m sure I will find a real one eventually.

Thanks again to everyone that’s helped me on this journey! I am forever grateful.

Congrats Nick! I wish I could join the real parts club.

Damn, those look incredible! I thought you had both... I was getting ready to scream with jealousy :lol
I just absolutely love this lightsaber!
But yes, which one is yours? Hot or Cold? I'm gonna gueeeeesss..... cold?

Lol the Cold one is mine. But I need to machine myself a balance pipe adapter like his. That one looks more accurate to me.

If you do machine an adapter, how much would you need for one?.... if you'd offer one that is. I have a converted male balance pipe. I've got a cone adapter in it right now, but I do like the design of this one a bit better.

Yep... I'd be down for a run... I'm using Roman's for mine atm....

Excellent lightsaber NickCline, great job by scottjua :)

And if you're about to do a run for a new cone section ... why not base it on a real found vintage part? Such as my magnetic metal chromed and partly brass piece with a set-screw so it can be attached to any available 'vintage' rod :

As seen inside a replica Balance Pipe :

Set-screw as partly seen with BP attached :

I need some sort of balance pipe adapter too. I have one in my parts box but I don’t think it’s going to work (I forget exactly why. I’m out of town right now and can’t look at it).
My grenade and sink knob are replicas for now. Need to replate the knob if I use it.

Congrats NickCline. Looks far too awesome to have come together so fast. I’m going to print out that picture and put it on top of my pile of parts.

For inspiration.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but does anyone know approximately how many real part Obi's are now in existence?

Also, seeing that many of us are just a booster away from a 100% real parts Obi, what is the max you would pay for one? What would be considered "fair" market value at this point with its rarity and high demand?

There was a list of the known builds but it was deleted to protect the innocent. Here is something teecrooz posted about the engines though.

I know of 41 large assemblies and 29 small. Some of the 29 were converted to resemble the large assemblies, but not all.

41 = Four engines at nine per engine (36). Plus four New/Old stock and one sourced independently.
29 = Three engines at nine per engine (27). Plus two New/Old stock. I do not know that the small assemblies from the first engine were retained.

As for the booster price, so hard to say. Demand as you noted, drives the price of course. It would be interesting to see what one would go for right now.
I do hope you can find one to finish your saber Nick.

The booster definitely seems to be the harder part to source - which is surprising. You'd really think it would be the Hales.

Who knew 100 year old unexploded ordnance was easier to get than the pointy end of a ww2 aircraft machine gun?
