This will be a slow going project at first, since I'm recovering from a shattered heel.

I'm not at home with my workshop and tools, so I'm extremely limited in what I can do.

Anyway, here's the small amount of progress I've made so far. Just a mock up, really.

I'm not sure there are any actual build threads about this particular prop, and for some reason, some details are shrouded in secrecy.

I intend to do the best I can with the small amount of reference I've got.

    Stay tuned for further updates!

Yeah, well. Seems I have terrible luck when it comes to eBay. Finally won something. I'm no stranger to losing to snipers.

http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=115189 I'm not certain it still has all the pictures ... yet @Cameron made one of the best Macro's with build-in viewscreen and all accurate parts

Nope, those are the HERO Macros. I've already built them. And here's a link to my original build thread from 2010.

    http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=86312

I'm referring to what we here call the STUNT Macros, from the deleted scenes at Tosche Station.

    Two totally different animals.

I've got just about all the parts, minus what I'll need to scratch build the lens plate and the transition box, which is a little more involved, it seems, than the hero version.

It's a dagummed shame I'll have to partially tear apart the Kalimar viewer.

So, I've been looking at the small amount of reference I've got, and to me it looks like the Seagull knob in the photo with Biggs is literally just glued straight into the tripod mounting hole.

I'm guessing that they then simply drilled another hole the same size for the other knob and glued that in as well.

As far as the larger Seagull knob goes, I've seen some builders utilize this "hole" for one of the three mounting screws to help orient the knob.

But in looking at shots I have, I think I can see that "hole", and the larger Seagull knob simply glued to the body.

Have a look at the top end of the red line. I feel like I can see that hole, and what above it looks like a chunk of hot glue on the Seagull knob.

I didnīt glued it, i made it the mechanical way, drilling and tapping - but, yes. My knob sits above the hole, itīs completely visible next to the foot of the knob.

I'm thinking of drilling and tapping the bottom ends of the small knobs, and using a washer on the inside of the camera body, to make it a bit more sturdy than simply gluing them on.

Since there's not really a formal discussion thread about this prop, I'm kinda also using this thread for research, discussion and planning out the build.

So, any input that anyone has to share is welcome!

I've got lots of ideas of how I'm gonna do this, but I'm still not home, what with my foot still healing.

It's killing me not being able to work on any projects.

Take your time, maybe the time to heal your foot might help with some decisions "howto".

I forgot to mention, in that same photo with Biggs, it appears the shutter button has been removed from the Miranda lens.

    Like this...

watching this thread with great interest, since I am planning to build my own stunt macros soon.

I agree about the extra button on the shutter being removed

I've made a lot of progress over the months. I used 1/2" acrylic for the lens plates, and it was a bit of a task getting the lenses attached with screws and such.

The next big hurdle is the transition box. I've got some ideas, and inspiration from other people's builds, and may just have to copy what others have done. I've bought some vise brake "jaws" for my 4.5" vice, and the setup does NOT like 1/8" aluminum. It just snaps. I may have to try some 1/16" steel. I'm not sure what others have used. If I can't manage metal, I may just use styrene, or I was thinking about Kydex. I'm just not sure.

Here's some progress photos. Everything is mounted with screws, and drilled/tapped holes. I drilled/tapped the Seagull knobs 4-40, and the lens plates are attached with 10-32 screws. I've also used some M2 and M3 screws in places.

I spent a lot of time mixing colors to get to the different grey tones, using my airbrush and Tamiya acrylic paints. I'm pretty satisfied with the colors now.

Anyone who's built these before, please chime in with any info you can offer regarding the transition box.

I realize some of you like to keep your secrets closely guarded, but I think it's time we all put our heads together on this one.

Reference for this prop is hard to come by, obviously.

From what I can see from a few fan builds, the box consists of three parts. Top, left and right sides, attached to the camera's face plate. Fairly simple looking, and easy to make if you've got a brake. I guess the other question is the method of attachment for the viewer.

    Hey Dann

    Did you make any progress?
I created a paper template and plan to bend the components of my transition box myself out of 2mm aluminum...just waitin for some tools to arrive.

A lot of my build pics got the photobucket shaft but the finished pics are still there. Unfortunatly a lot of the Starwars prop builds are still stuck in the Replica prop forum and didn't get moved so you will not find them searching the starwars forum. Obviously they are the other mamiya model and I didn't have the correct plate
