Star Lord's new scanner

Does anyone have any good HD quality images of this prop now that the film is released on home video? (It's not out in the UK until early September)

I'm so sorry to ask this, I've been building props for a little while now, but have never used a rasberry pi or any electronics for that matter. I just bought a Adafruit FEATHERWING 2.4" 320X240 TFT LCD screen and a Rasberry Pi starter kit. I already had the game system. Now I am stuck. Is there anyone who can post a link or a tutorial on how to "make" the display work or give me some instruction on what to do next? i.e. how to wire the display and how to program it (you know the hard parts everyone with experience already figured out)

thanx

I don't think this prop is used in the film anymore than we see in the trailer (haven't watched it yet, just going by what someone else told me). Since the trailer was released in HD, we already have the best HD images of it we are going to get... Unless it's featured in a making of piece or something.

I've made a video. It may not be the most screen accurate replica in the world, but in the absence of any definitive word from James Gunn, it'll do :D

The video is 8 minutes long, but there's a reward at the end if you manage to sit through it all... (or skip) haha

What version of the game do you have? If you watch my video (couple of posts above) I explain what the parts are.

You need a Dale RH25 wirewound resistor. If you can't find any on ebay try Mouser or RS electronics. They aren't expensive, maybe less than a fiver each.

Miniature brass barrel hinges are about £1 each but you might need to buy a multi pack for another fiver.

The sticker you may need to get someone to do for you I don't know if i have any more spares as I want to keep one of my spares incase I need to re-attach a sticker.

I got an ebay seller to cut me a bit of perspex the right size for the screen for £3.

There is a video file from a user called Kelvington in an earlier post in this thread. I modified it slightly for my usage but the un modified one is plenty good enough.

Cheers I got them on etsy from a fellow member. I tried lots of different websites they where all the same story. Shipping was robbery.
Thanks though.

Are you going for the exposed circuit route or the buttons route? I love that there's no true "screen accurate" version (despite what some sellers claim) because it's not on screen for long enough (<3 seconds) and much of it is covered up by Pratts hand. Everyone has got their own take on it which is wonderful to see the creativity.

It's been a while since there was activity on this thread... Has anyone found (or taken) additional pictures of the prop? I really want to see what's under his thumb !!

My 2000 Mattel body finally arrived and so I'm about to hack it apart for a quick build.
Can any recommend the 'best' old phone to put inside? Seems the S3 comes up a lot. And then my main question, how are you turning it on/off?

thanks,
L

I spoke to the daughter of a prop maker for GOTGv2 and he said they were not allowed to take any photos during production of any pieces. (He didn't work on that piece specifically tho). I'm really hoping *someone* has at least one more photo before I cut into mine.

I ordered a kit with the parts, they will be here next week, but Soulinertia was kind enough to send me the gif file of the scanner screen. It was really good, but I found a clip of the scanner from one of the trailers, squared it, isolated it, and made my own version.

Here is the isolated version from the film -

Here is my version, it's a little more stylized -

Here it is in the tracker -

I've made both are sharp and soft version, if you want to use them here they are as both .mp4 and .gif files. Enjoy!

Hi, Thanks for writing, it's been a while the video links got updated. Though when I type them in to an address line they work just fine. But not when I click on them. (go figure) I think the links were created BEFORE the https days.
