Vader MPP bubble mounting

Just now another UK based MPP went for a lot of gold pressed latinum ... since bidding is over I assume it's okay to post the link?

This MPP variant has a so-called 2-step shroud hence it's less screen-accurate ... still it could go for a nice V2 ... congratulations to whomever was the lucky bidder :)

P.S. The other day I watched an episode of Father Brown and one of the police officers took pictures with a genuine MPP camera and working 2 step flash attached ;)

Pretty pricey, still not bad with recent sales at about $1800. Crazy isn't it?

Has it ever been mentioned that the cut of the ANH bubble strip seems to match exactly to the ESB/ROTJ one? Is the consensus that this strip was transferred from the silver bars ANH to the black bars ANH V2 to make it the ESB hero?

I just think its a bit of a stretch that an entirely different bubble strip would get cut EXACTLY the same place years later without the old one for reference, seems more likely that its actually the same part. This could then also lead you to assume that the ANH silver sidebars has the same bubblecard under it as well, as seen on the ESB/ROTJ.

I do see one difference. The ANH lightsaber actually shows some of the bubble strip above the clamp edges. The ESB one has mitered corners so it sits flush, almost under the bars.

You're right though, they may have taken it apart and used it for another MPP

People are getting their Roman's MPPs so I figured it was worth bumping this thread back up. I know that I'll be referring to this thread once I start working on mine.

I'm gonna have to take new photos of my Larbel MPP, I did the circuit board years ago, and I think I thinned that out more than the bubbles.

Hi All.
Rebumping this back up, sorry. So I have looked through this thread and have concluded:

ANH Vader silver bars - Uncertain about board under bubbles, but PROBABLY the one seen in the Casino poster shot.
ANH Black bars - Red square LED blocks card
Luke ANH graflex - Card or no?
Obi Wan ANH - Card or no?

Based on what? There is zero evidence to support that conjecture.
No there is no empirical evidence, I just echoed the speculation of another RPF'er to make sure I was understanding the finding properly. I am not looking to deceive. It was just mentioned somewhere in the thread that when the ESB saber was being assembled that the propmaster may have used the same board as the ANH silver bars one, so it would have the board underneath. That's all. :D I don't think it is solid enough myself to get a board to put in my saber.

There's also no evidence for the contrary. But it is a fair assumption. There just isnt enough evidence or good reference one way or another. But given what we now know about the ESB prop, again, its a fair assumption.

Well, you said it yourself - it's *speculation*. It's exactly that, pure and simple. I wasn't implying that you were looking to deceive. But you did write "PROBABLY" which I feel is incorrect.

Again, that's PURE speculation. Also, "may have used" and "PROBABLY" are two different things. I don't think it's solid enough either, but I guess we are free to choose, right? :)

For those with real MPP clamps and tubes- when the clamp is tightened sufficiently on the tube, what is the max width in mm inside- between the "jaws" that hold the strip/board/card? Thanks.
