Part 2 of the above mentioned display finished

1/144 Jangos Slave I

As for anyone wondering, it is NOT a straight repack of the Boba Slave I. If I had to say it in numbers, I´d say its about 50/50 repack/new parts.

The engine bottom and the wings are the same. The cockpit and the entire hull ( except the entrance part ) are all new.

And a littler teaser for the final step, I picked up a mediumsized lavalike rock at the petshop wich I found in the fish-section

Here we are, the "Geonosis Asteroid Belt Chase" is finished

Just hotglued everything together and pimped up the stone with a drybrush layer of bambibrown to blend in the posts as good as possible. I also digged up the empty clear sprue from the Slave I kit. The area that "protected" the canopy is a bout a ,75 inch high and fits nice under the rock to make it hover on the shelf.

My original plan was to place some of my spare laser bolts from other kits on the rocksurface, but then I would have needed a bigger one to get more distance between the two ships.
Not as spectacular as I wanted, but I am fine as it is

You know, for an old guy you sure got nice Bandai collection...just kidding. Nice collection and I'm glad that Bandai has given us such detail models from Star Wars series. Just recently I purchased the AT-ST 1/48 kit and man I was blown away by the sharp detail. Now, I'm catching up getting more of their SW kits. You keep up the good work ;)

I hear ya :) like you I was blown away with my first "test-kit" abou 14 months ago. The extra DS-turret with the A-wing did it for me, and I had never seen THIS level of detail on such small kits before.
I really became addicted to them and tried to catch up on monthly base and today there are just a few vehicles left to get, them being the .72 TIE Striker, .144 AT-AT and .144 Falcon. The .48 AT-ST for some reason is the very very very last choice of mine.

I am really tempted to get the .72 Falcon, but as I just recently finished my DeAgo Falcon I start to run out of space for larger projects.

Outstanding work, Scooby. You have a beautiful collection, really nice. I'm about to start my first Bandai X-wing and was curious if you painted the entire ship or went bare plastic and "accented" from there. (For the record, 47 years here).

Thanks.

Thank you Jimmer ;)

Well, I paint the full kit along as I build, mostly with the parts still on sprues. Out of my collection only with the big BB-8 I skipped the paint and did the weathering directly to the bare plastic

Thanks for the quick response.

Like you, I am amazed at the quality of the Bandai kits. I took up model building about a year ago, but given the limited time I have to apply to the hobby I am certainly still at novice level so I always appreciate input from you pros.

I have built a couple of the Bandai droid kits, but this will be my first ship (Rogue One Special Set with 1/144 & 1/72 X-Wings).

I haven't gone to airbrush yet, so I brush with acrylics occasionally using spray cans (used spray metallic aluminum on R2's dome for example). I plan on building smaller X wing as a "test run" for the 1/72.

Anyway, thanks for the info and amazing work on your builds.

Jim

Re: My 1:72 Star Wars Bandais

Hallo again :)

Finally I got something to do again :)
I am currently working on the .144 AT-AT and brainstorming for a custom base, as I find the deliverd plastic part is pretty small.

Anyway, until I am finished, I managed to do the .144 AT-ST and Snowspeeder in a free hour.

20180329_155513.jpg20180329_155529.jpg20180329_155834.jpg

and while I am on the "tinys" I finally digged out the sprues with the Hover Tank form the U-Wing kit. I only did one of the two delivered tanks. Unfortunatly I perfectly screwed up both tiny pilots, so I am fine with the closed hatch ;)

I might add a drop of red to bring out the front window a little more. Little more weathering to the feet and a few snowy bits will be added later too.

Now lets get crackin´ on the icy surface

I used this for the snowsurface

20180402_071319.jpg20180402_071342.jpg

It really gives a nice, lifelike snowy structure to the surface, just nor very visbile in my photos, due lightning.
It can be applied with scrapers, brush or simple by fingers. I applied a about 5mm layer right onto the glas of the frame. Let it dry a little, put everything onto it and let it dry more over night. I guess as I worked on glass it takes a little longer to dry, as the moisture won´t soack into the base. Anyway, next morning it was still a little semi-wet and I was still able to smooth out some wonky looking and unnatural areas. Unfortunatly I completly forgot to stomp in some more footprints. I might try to carve them in for both walkers, when completly dried

I used a black 0,3 thread ( leftover from my Black Pearl build ) to wrap-up the walker, and a brush-protector-tube for mounting the speeder. I will also let soak the loose loop with superglue to make it more sturdy and it won´t hang down that far
