A lot has happened over the weekend and I haven't had any time to post.

Anyways, woo! 1:1 Vader.

Re: My 1:1 Vader

will you be modifying this to correct the inaccuracies? and if you are, which version will you be aiming for? ;)

Re: My 1:1 Vader

So I did some work to make him look better today.
All I really did was replace the belt with a cheap leather one from Walmart, and move the chestbox straps outside. That let me position it accurately, and the holes honestly aren't that visible.
Right now GINO would say something like:
That isn't accurate at all, @TheIronGAMING. Look at my Vaders for near perfect representations of screen used stuff.
But who cares. It looks like vader, close enough. It's rubies. All I'm doing here is polishing a turd.
And dang it is at a mirror finish!!

Re: My 1:1 Vader - pics

So a package arrived today.

Inside is another box. I wonder......

Ooh, nicely wrapped things...

And here they are: cheapo PU leather boots.

I got them for about $45 bucks on Amazon.com. Better than buying super accurate $300 buck boots to drill through the sole. Gotta do that in a bit, then I'll post.

Re: My 1:1 Vader - pics

Vader is vader man! I personally feel it is pointless to worry about every little detail. Looks like a great Vader, Great work!

Thanks, this has been pretty tough. Came down sick today, so a slight halt is inevitable. But I did drill the boot- will post pics when I'm feeling better

Re: My 1:1 Vader - pics

So here is part 2 of the boot trilogy.
I used Wite-Out to mark the position of the peg through the foot.

And then I fell flat on my face. Apparently there was a stainless steel plate in these. (I don't know, it just was so tough it had to be stainless steel.) It was just so labor-intensive that I forgot to take pics.
About 30 minutes later I got the peg on!! :)

And then I put the boots on my Manny. Dog was very unenthused, he's probably a Trekkie. ;) I used rubber bands to allow the boots to slip on easier.

After that, the boots wouldn't zip all the way. So I took the bands off, rolled the pantlegs up, and then zipped up the boots. The boot with the peg going through is being SUPER stubborn, so I haven't done that one yet.

That's all for now. Part 3 will probably be getting new boots.
But I'm content with these for now.

Re: My 1:1 Vader - pics

The Rubies is far from film quality, but it gets people into the hobby. With an EFX, i would argue they improve amazingly! Im doing the same project, just costume instead of statue. The first pic is an un modded rubies, the second with an EFX helmet added.
