Evolution of the War-Machine

I saw that, very nice.
Small update, a gasless MIG was donated to me last week from Samurai169. Thanks Shane, you the man.
I put the spine on hold as I await the purchase of a metal lathe. I have started making renders of a mech boot. I had something drawn out and I was working on a mockup, then with little sleep I was laying in bed overthinking the design and was hit with an idea. So tonight, back to the drawing board...
Almost forgot, hit the FB link and check out my build in a group I started of the same title...

This my friends is a juicy piece, the Mk42 boot from JD Christianson. A few years back I came up with an open-closed mechanism that bares a striking resemblance to this one. Which means I'm on the right track. Been working on drawings this weekend also a mockup. Picking up some metal this week...

This is just awesome and inspiring.
The boot opens from the back, I come up with a way to have the front and back open simultaneously. He also mentioned that he would use magnets to hold it closed. A solenoid would be a better solution...

This is my mock up so far, going to try and finish the foot part soon. Lots of trial and error but I hope that this is the way to go...

First pic is my resined boot, still needs fibreglass. I have to finish the arch and the toe.
Second pic is 2nd attempt at MIG welding, yep it sucks. Shoddy to be quite honest but it's a start, I won't give up.
3rd is a link that I just love. Very inspiring, however I will do some tweaking.
Rather than using magnets for the closure I will use solenoids. The arch, through testing I find needs to be pivotal rather than just stationary. Lastly in the video the boot opens from the back using a linear actuator that is placed in the shin. I would like to have the shin and the calf open simultaneously, I believe placing the actuator in another location will achieve this.
I have ordered some pieces online in January and have yet to receive anything. These pieces are vital to my boot mech...

It's been awhile.
My left hand is down to 15%, seeing a specialist on the 7th and 27th of this month.
I see photobucket has left everyone high and dry.
Been working on building a bench, finishing up today.
I picked up a juicy tool to help along the way, possibly of asgardian decent.
This is the best panel beating hammer I have ever used.
From Hoosier profile tools...

Just built a jewellers bench to help with my build.
One handed and using only hand tools.20170703_160938.jpg20170703_161104.jpg
This is a portable bench that can be moved anywhere. A practical solution, for a guy who's limited on space...

Murdoch,I wish you a speedy recovery for your hands so that you can get back to crafting full speed and 100%.
Stay strong

A few things happening here.
Boot mech WIP incorporating recycled leg braces & using aluminum.
Helmet WIP, 2 metals here. One in aluminum the other in steel. Trying to find the metal that works the best in hammer forming. Hoping the aluminum starts to come to me as easily as the steel. I would prefer the helmet in aluminum.
Lastly Arc-reactor WIP

Good to see you're still working on your project,GM.How is your hand these days? I sincerely hope you're feeling better.
